Likely, you should be able to get one for way less than that.

Yes, any fox width 8.8 will bolt in. That is ridiculously priced. Keep in mind, the Fairmont is just ugly fox body so most all stuff is interchangeable.

Don't take our word for it, measure your car and current axle. That will tell you exactly what you can and can't get away with.

Personally, I would take some tools and a truck to your local grab-it yard and pull one yourself. Time and labour will be much less than that gem pre-shipping. Depending on your skill level and planning you could be in and out in an hour or so.

If it needs to be shortened there are lots of videos and write-ups documenting the process.

That will fit - the width is identical. You may need to swap over your existing brake line though. As has been stated, if you watch craigslist or go to a local yard you should be able to find one for less than half that.

I would never use the 4 lug axles in that particular rear end, and note that it is marked as having 2.73 gears. For what you would spend on upgrading this one you can certainly find a better 5 lug 8.8 for less.. If your question was just about the width of the rear end fitting disregard the above comments. Good luck with your build.

keep in mind a used Trac-Lock LSD most likely needs a rebuild anyway. The kit from Ford is cheap.... but another expense. A TrueTrac or similar would be a better upgrade.

That rear end pictured is worth $150 max..... I wouldn't even pay that.
