Yeah, you can use one from a 99 and up. There are minor differences (99 & 00 PCM will be looking for EGR which the 2001 engine didn't have), but nothing major.

GM used the same computer on a lot of different vehicles, just with different programs. If the V6 ECM that you have is the same as an LS1 ECM, it may just need a different program. Then you can eliminate the emissions and such at that time if you choose.
Some dealerships will put a stock program in to the ECM fairly cheap.

That sucks. I know how you feel. Speartech will be able to tell you if the V6 and V8 PCMs are the same. He has some pics on his website. If you can't find one, Valvegod (Shaun Carter: 248-276-0483) had a bunch of them last time I was up at his shop.

The V-6 will not work. The connectors are differnet(Blue and Clear). The blue fits, but the red will not fit the clear plug. I'll call Shaun tomorrow. Thanks.

By the way, the guy that has sold me several bad parts is located in Arkansas and goes my Redline on Ebay. I think he is located in Hartman.

So will a V-6 work as long as the connectors are red and blue?

Yes, the red and blue is the key. But don't bother looking in any cars, the only V6 using it are the 4.3 from the 2001 and up truck family.

Of course, it would have to be reprogrammed before using it on a V8.
