4L85E in 68 chevelle
Hello, I currently have a 2004R in a 1968 chevelle. Looking to move to a 4L85E I found from a junkyard. What is needed to physically fit it into the car in terms of a crossmember? Can I use my stock one just flipped around? I know I need to shorten the driveshaft and change the yoke. Anytging else I'm missing? Thanks dudes.

Measure from the mounting face to the mount pad and you'll know. At least you won't have a TV cable to kick around any more....

I just finished a 4L80E and 6.0 into mine, Fit great with the Holley brackets, and headers, with the forward biased engine mounts. (which are key to getting it to fit in stock tunnel)
Its a tight fit even with all of that, and even a little massaging around drivers rear sensor on trans, and a little on the top right of the trans. I also used Banjo fittings for the transmission lines to allow more room.

Are you asking for options to retain the stock cable speedometer? If so, this is an option:

Thanks for the tips. I secured a 2002 4L85E today. I plan to replace the whole valve body and put the HD2 kit in as well.
What is the difference between 99-03 valve bodies and 04+ valve bodies?
