Anyone that wants a low cost, mega cooling fan, should really consider using the Terminator X. One of my tuning customers just installed a C7 Corvette fan on his Holley EFI equipped F150. He has a Dominator, but it would work just as easily with the Terminator X.

The C7 fan is an absolute beast and is rated at 600 watts. It is a brushless motor fan that has an integral fan speed controller. It will not work with a simple relay. However, the Holley EFI can be configured to output the needed signal for this fan and it works amazingly well. The soft start feature of the fan motor eliminates the big current draw spikes that occur when the fan comes on, which puts much less stress on the car electrical system. You can also integrate AC functionality using either an AC pressure switch or a simple trinary switch in the high pressure side of the system. When AC pressure reaches a certain point (265psi with a trinary switch) fan speed can be commanded regardless of engine temperature.

The best part is that the C7 fan can be sourced for about $250 brand new.

Ordered mine up today for the K20 swap. Hopefully it’s a better unit than the awful Sniper system.

I've tuned several Sniper systems and they are far from awful. They do however need special attention to wiring, but all EFI systems have similar installation challenges when being retrofitted to an older vehicle. The Terminator X is no different. I have said s hundred times that any EFI installation need to also have a power distribution module installed under the hood.

I’m not arguing the tuning aspect of them, the Sniper unit itself is a disaster and Holley refused to stand behind it or address any issues. It was such a bad system that I ended up just moving on to a new project entirely because of it. I’m hoping this will be different as it’s been out for a while and seems to have good reviews, and is more software than hardware.

Does the C7 fan have the relay built in? From pictures it looks like it does vs. the C6 fan that needs the additional relay module.

"Relay" is not exactly the right term. It's more like a fan controller. So yes, the C7 fan has the fan controller built in, while the C6 fan (I use it on my Cougar) has an external fan controller. Hooking up the C7 fan is very simple. SPAL sells the mating connector for the plug, which uses (2) 11mm terminals and (1) 1.5mm terminal. It draws a lot of current at full speed, so using 8 gauge wire is a must. I would recommend running both the power and the ground side directly to the battery and using a 75-80 amp breaker in the positive side. The small wire gets routed to the Terminator X to any pin that can be configured as a PWM- output.

Great info Andrew! I'll have to look into that fan/controller. I'm excited to start playing more with the input and outputs. I'm going to be playing around with using an output for reverse lockout and one input for VSS from Dakota Digital.

I knew relay wasn't right but figured it would get the point across. Nice that the C7 fan has it all built in. I haven't been able to get rid of the whine on my C6 setup and I'd prefer to have the cleaner wiring and better shape/shroud of this fan.

Newbie question, can you T off the oil and water temp wires to run to a gauge cluster? A Terminator is in the plans but I’m trying to think thru everything that might be an isssue.

Oil pressure, yes...water temp, no.

Does anyone know off hand if the LS3/L92 oil pressure sensor will work with Terminator X? It plugs in, but not sure if it has the right calibration.

Yes. .5-4.5v 0-130 psi

Is it worth playing with injector end angle values?

Car idles drives fine, but, can't help tinkering.

Yes, it can be very beneficial, but the way that Holley implements the IEA is not really optimal. A better way to do it is through the Advanced ICF.

I started reading up on it, certainly seems like quite the rabbit hole.

Goal is to try and squeak a bit more mpg out of the setup

IEA won't have a big impact on fuel economy. The biggest impact on fuel economy is leaning out the target AFR table.

Current cruise is set to 14.5, gonna try and lean that out. Would be cool to squeak ~20mpg area out of the setup.

Ya my cruise is at 15 and no issues, some push it further.
