Default LQ4 + E90 should = Love ? build

Well as the title states its time for another gm/bmw, shaken not stirred combo. The Host, a 2006 bmw 325i AKA the E90, the done, well the heart and brain at least a 2004 gm 6.0l with a 4l80e. It has been done before but now im doing it . Rules, must stay as BMW on the outside as possible, do nasty V8 burnouts, run "smooth", annnddddd automatic ( promised the wife this one would be "her" friendly). So lets the games begin. The build be be done at a hope full steady pace with $$, shipping to Canada and being a father at hand.. Ive always liked the BMW styling and yes they do make a stout engine buuutttt well not so much for this one that is running poorly. The install is pretty simple, gonna be running the stock gm ecm which will control the fans, fuel pump and AC ( last project).
issue 1- this chassis run a dead head fuel system at almost 75psi ( teste don a gauge).. custom set up with a corvette return reg/filter combo or clean fuel cell in the trunk?
issue 2- gauges, though bmw do make a very clean, simple and attractive gauges, i can get them to work im pretty confident but i will have a xmas tree of warning lights, or clean "autometer" style cluster.????
These are my first issues off the top of my head. If anyone is interested in the build please im open to opinions to these two
Engine tear down begins tomorrow!

In the spirit of keeping it as much BMW as possible, I’d try and get as much of the stock dash working as possible. Corvette reg/filter at the back with “enough” pump in the stock tank.

Stock ecu to run the engine/trans? It's gonna want 58-60 psig which the Corvette reg will take care of for you. Confused about the reference to higher pressures....

That was going to be my suggestion. Depending on budget you really don't have to change the fuel system as long as you adjust the tune.

My concern is/was that the fuel pump designed to manage a 180 cube, 215hp/185 lb-ft six can't keep up with the new mill.

That may be true, don't know the specs on the stock pump. But surely someone has a howto for swapping in a Walbro 255 or something. I'm saying I wouldn't worry about the higher pressure as you can compensate for it in the tune.

The idea of changing the fuel pump "design" in the BMW would be quite the task being they run a two sump tank which accommodates for the driveshaft running down the center.. this consists of drivers side an internal frpr / jet pump that with the return has hoses that go to the other sump to maintain equal fuel level.. the other side consists of the standard In tank fuel pump setup that sends fuel though a hose to the frpr ... Here's a pic 😊.
As for the stock BMW fuel pump flows 350lbs/hr which is approx 250lph. At 72 psi.. which is almost compared to a walbro gss342... I'm going to try this fuel pump but I will monitor fuel pressures...
As for the 70-72 psi, can the ifr tables in hp tuners be adjusted for the increase in pressure to run properly?

Given that (BMW just loves to complicate things don't they?) -- if the pump/fuel line sizes are up to snuff, simple adjustment of the tune.

Gotta chime in as I also have an E92 (same color as yours) and LS1 project, but sadly, not in the same car.

Enjoying your build!!

Given the length of the six, you should have a bit of room at the front of the LS for accessories, etc.

If the M3 of the same year has more radiator/more fan than yours, then you'll likely need more than what you've got with the V8.

Yeah, definitely keep posting progress...

Little tip for next time...(Big hammer, and a long chisel is much better improvised "fan clutch removal tool" than a Sawzall...)
