Default LS Swap - 6.0 LY6 LSA Supercharger - Feedback on build

Hello,
I am really new to the LS platform, but I am going to try and tackle an LS swap into a Hyundai Genesis Coupe. I have been researching for several months on parts, etc... I have a few questions and I'm wondering if someone could take a look at what I have put together and see if there are any parts incompatibilities or fitment verification I need to make during install. I promise I have tried to put as much research into this as possible before posting.

I already have most/all of these parts, my main concern is on is what I have all compatible and what am I missing. The goal of this build isn't to make 1,000 horsepower, I'm just looking for something fun and probably end up around 500-600whp.

Engine: 2008 LY6 from Silverado 2500HD 180,000mi

Engine Parts: Basically a stock LY6 with LS9 cam and PAC-1218 valve springs
  • Cam: LS9 OEM cam
    • VVT deleted with 3 bolt gear and LS2 timing cover
  • Valve Springs: PAC-1218
  • Lifters: Stock LY6
  • Rockers: Stock LY6
  • Push Rods: Stock LY6
  • Pistons: Stock LY6
  • Rods: Stock LY6
  • Valves: Stock LY6
  • Retainers: Stock LY6
  • Oil Pump: Melling M295HV (I have a remote oil filter and the engine has 180,000mi on it so that's why I chose HV)
  • Coils: Stock LY6
  • Head Bolts: ARP 134-3610
  • Head Gaskets: OEM LS9 Head Gaskets
  • Oil Pan: Sikky swap oil pan w/ remote oil filter
  • Valley Cover: Stock LY6
FEAD:
  • Water Pump: CTS-V ACDelco 251-728
  • C5 Corvette accessories: C5 Alternator, C5 Power Steering, C5 idler and tension pulleys
  • Harmonic Balancer: OEM LSA Balancer
  • LSA Drive: OEM pulleys (idler, tension)
Supercharger:
  • Stock LSA Supercharger from 2012 Zl1 w/ stock pulley
  • OEM LSA heat exchanger and pump
Transmission:
  • T-56 from a 2004 GTO
  • Stage 3 Single Disk Monster Clutch
  • Sikky 5.5" relocated shifter
Fueling:
  1. LS9 injectors on LSA fuel rail
  2. OEM ZL1 fuel pump (apparently this fits with minimal modification on the Hyundai Coupe)
  3. Aeromotive 1:1 RRFPR
Concerns/Questions:
  1. From what I read, the LSA balancer is on corvette spacing. The C5 accessories I have should work correct?
    • Its on me to make sure the layout fits in my car, but ignoring that, will this all line up when I assemble on the engine stand?
  2. What is the best/easiest way to control this combination?
    • LSA standalone harness and E67 ECU (maintains control of boost solenoid and heat exchanger pump)
      • Would I need an LSA throttle body or can I use the truck DBW?
      • Are any of the truck sensors I already have not compatible with the E67 ECU?
    • E38 standalone harness (I have the ECU and pedal from the truck)
      • Whats the best way to deal with the different sensors on the LSA Supercharger?
    • Some sort of aftermarket standalone (I don't know much about which systems there are on the LS platform)
  3. Will the PAC-1218 valve springs be able to handle the LS9 cam?
    • The LY6 heads have the heavier intake valves
  4. Anything it seems like I am missing?
Thanks for any help!

Thanks man, yeah I got it all finished up last fall. I have about 800 miles on it so far, but I don't drive it in the winter so it has been sitting since last fall. It has a hood on it, I just didn't want to put the hood on until I knew everything was working well. Ill just be cleaning up a few things this spring and getting it tuned and Ill probably call it done for a while. Want to get a few thousand miles on it to find any issues before I change the pulley and go for more power.

Agreed. How about some details needed to swap the LSA?
did you re-gap your rings?

Wow that thing is rad! These chassis have serious potential now that the prices are coming down a bit. Are you running the stock differential?

Yeah, I bought this brand new back in 2012, but now you can find them easily under $10k, and if you just want a shell Ive seen multiple of them for less than $4,000. I am still on stock differential, but I have the ATQ differential kit which adds a 4th mount and subframe bracing.

Finally got the car dyno'd. I made 517whp/452wtq
  • Dyno Dynamics
  • 6.0L 9.3:1 compression
  • LSA w/ stock pulleys 8psi
  • LS9 cam
  • Stock LSA injectors
  • 91 octane

Any idea on boost levels? You could probably pick up 20-40 more HP with a cam swap, the LSA/LS9 Cam is pretty docile.

Finally! Someone found the correct usage for the LS9 cam! LOL!
Way to go! But yeah, a different cam will yield bigger numbers without sacrificing drivability.

Made 8psi with the stock pulleys. I intentionally chose the LS9 cam since it was a good budget option and didnt require me to really do anything to the valvetrain. The goal for the car isnt to make crazy numbers or anything. I want it to drive like what a stock car would feel like. The plan is to drive it like this for a few thousand miles ( which will probably take a few years to hit) and then eventually Ill go to a 2.4 pulley, a proper cam, and go with a bigger heat exchanger, etc...

Hey LS GenCoup: How did your accessory drive turn out? I am doing a similar thing and I am not sure what parts to get.

Well, i ended up ditching the C5 accessories because the high mount alternator interfered with the fuse box on my car. I am basically just running full CTSV accessories now and everything is working great.

The CTSV alternator Im using needs a pwm signal if you want more than 13.7 volts. Depending on how much stuff you are running that may be just fine for your build. Im using an arduino to generate a pwm signal so I get 14.5 volts, there is a great thread on here if you need more info on that. Again, its not required unless you want more than 13.7 volts. I think there are other alternators on the same spacing that dont require you to mess with that stuff too, I just got a hell of a deal on this alternator so I made it work.
