Default Clutch Pedal Conundrum

I’m swapping an Gen IV LS 5.3 and a 2006 CTSV T56 into a 1951 Desoto wagon. I’m having trouble finding a set of Cadillac CTSV pedals. Specifically the clutch pedal assembly. I know the Pontiac GTO and G8 are similar but I can’t tell from the pics of a CTSV clutch master would fit (or easily modified) to fit in the Pontiac pedal assembly.

thanks in Advance!

Shouldn't you be looking for a Desoto clutch pedal?

As said above, I would look for a desoto clutch pedal if available and then look for a kit you can adapt to it. Modern driveline has some awesome kits you could probably retro fit. I just used their Falcon kit and love it. https://www.moderndriveline.com/shop...ch-master-kit/

Why not use aftermarket? There are tons of combinations and it's easier to fab.
Doesn't have to be willwood but I choose them for the variety they offer.

2 reasons. 1. I’m cheap 2. trying to find replacement parts in the middle of nowhere is easier when using stock production parts.

im in a similar boat, im swapping a 5.3 and AR5 into a 73 chevelle and it seems like most people use a fbody clutch master, but even used garbage on ebay was almost $100, and a brand new tilton complete with reservoir was like $94 on amazon. it would have basically cost me the same for used parts, or if i bought new, it would have likely cost more. all i have to do is figure out a mount, which for a 73 chevelle id have to fab anyway, and my own line to the slave. earls sells a nice QD to -4 fitting that basically solves it.

in a ‘51 the clutch is floor mounted and cable activated. That space is now filled with my modded 50’s truck floor mounted power brake booster

If you have a DeSoto, I would look at all early 50's Chrysler Corp. stick shift cars which should be most of them. Dodge, Plymouth, Chrysler......

I found 3 2004-2006 Pontiac GTO assemblies with this search "pontiac gto clutch brake pedal assembly" It looks like the clutch pedal assembly is separate from the brake pedal? also you have to wade through all of the other entries to find the ones you want.
It looks like 2003-2008 clutch masters for the CTS are all the same.

I assume you are using the CTSV (clutch) master cylinder. You can use any pedal to push it as long as you can fashion the right length of push rod.
Two critical things though. 1. mounting point on the pedal to get proper throw geometry. and 2. You need to make sure that when the pedal is pushed all the way it can't be pushing the master cylinder too far. When the pedal is pushed all the way it should not OVER throw the master and damage it. On the set up I made I had to weld a stop on the back of the clutch pedal arm that would hit the floor before the master cylinder maxxed out. (My push rod wasn't adjustable but I would recommend adjustable.)
I've only done one so maybe someone with more knowledge can give more info.

Under the floor pedals kind of suck in my opinion. If you have the room, adding hanging pedals would be the way to go. It's not as clean looking in the engine compartment, but they just work way better. If you are wanting something factory, what about 5th gen Camaro pedals? Those should be easier than finding CTSV or G8 GXP pedals.

i got a ZL1 Camaro pedal/clutch assembly but I couldn’t find proper fittings to connect to the CTSV transmission. The Camaro clutch has a quick connect fitting that I couldn’t find a clutch hydraulic to match with the Caddy trans.

Maybe check out the clutch approach I used for my track car -- it looks like your clutch master mounting hole is roughly similar. I ended up using a Wilwood master cylinder. https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...l#post19684468
(scroll down a little bit to see the picture of the brake and clutch masters)

McLeod or Sweet has an adapter for the slave to AN -4. Don't quote me, but the master may be able to use the same adapter fitting as all the hydro clutch Camaros.

I managed to find some used CTSV pedals. So I fabbed Some mounts up.

my only issue now is the hydraulic line is about 12” short. But the silver lining here is that one end is threaded so I’m fairly confident I can get an extension on this one. Thank you everyone for your help!
