I hate those friggin counter-sunk screws that are used on those universal type adapter plates. I went through an exercise a few years back to delete them from all the Hooker Blackheart mounting brackets where they weren’t absolutely required for inter-component clearance and I’ve not had to deal with one for about 4 years now. Your experience with them here makes me glad I went through that exercise. I’ll buy you a beer for your troubles if you make it to LS Fest.

Today was a pretty productive day in the garage. The big goal was to clear out some stuff out and make better use of the limited space that I have. The first order of business was to get the QuickJacks off the floor. I ordered the wall mounting brackets when I bought the QuickJacks and they worked very well.

The next step was to clear out the space on the right side of the garage, so the work bench is more accessible without having to move the car out on the driveway.

Luckily, many of the things in the garage are on casters, so things are easy to move around. The big bench got moved from the left side of the car and the tool box went in its place.

This gives me fairly decent space on either side of the car, and a nice area to the right, where I can work on the engine and anything else that will come up.

I then spent some time with some degreaser and cleaned up the block. It turned out pretty well. Tomorrow I will get some acetone and go over the block again.

FedEx also made a delivery today from Summit Racing. I got the Summit "Ghost" cam with some dual valve springs and matching pushrods.

I also got a Burgeson 12:1 steering box.

Awesome thread Andrew! We thought we jumped in here previously, but it looks like we haven't. What better time than now! Thank you for your patronage. We like the pairing of the Ghost cam with the HDR pushrods and dual spring package! That's a phenomenal trio of valvetrain parts right there.
We'll go ahead and provide some info on pushrod length. With the SUM-8715R1 "Ghost" cam we typically see 7.400" or 7.425" pushrods work. Things vary from one engine to the next so that's where the range comes from. We always recommend measuring pushrod length before purchasing pushrods. It's especially important to check pushrod length if the cylinder heads have been milled. Andrew has a head start since he's installed the Ghost in a previous combo. To verify pushrod length we offer the TFS-9501 pushrod length checker from Trickflow. A 0-8"+ set of dial calipers is a good idea to accurately measure the pushrod length checker.
We didn't want to take away from the thread. However, we saw an opportunity to provide info that coincides with the thread. Keep the updates coming, Andrew!

Summit- How much leeway is there with pushrod length when using say, LS7 lifters ?
Down the road when my LM7 needs work, I plan on over hauling the heads with a GOOD valve job, bowl blend, and milling about .020" to lose 3 cc's from the chambers. All with .040 head gaskets to arrive at a a hair less than 10:1 compression.
With stock pushrods at 7.400", and taking off .031 (.020 milled, .011 thinner HG, for a new theoretical length of 7.369), would I go down to the next available length pushrod (7.375") or even shorter?
No more hijacking Andrew's thread. Sorry!

I have both 7.400" and 7.425" push rods and I will check both to see which ones give me best preload. My heads have never been removed, so it is a bone stock L92 long block.
