Default Ls swap

So yea guys me again and this time I was wondering if I’d be able to cut a section out of the stock alternator bracket the portion I’m going to be cutting is the idler pulley to make it more square and to fit my throttle body and I just wanted to know if I’d be able to without causing any issues

That whole portion is what I’m wanting to cut out

I'd get a taller Intake, plenty of them out there and they make power.

normally I would but I spent a pretty decent amount on this one for clearance Ang hp wise it’s only 8hp difference and people want way to much for a ls1 intake this was just the best option for me

LS1 Intake is a car Intake. You'd be in the same position. I take it you probably haven't seen the truck intakes..

No I have I’ve got a few just they won’t clear my hood that’s literally the only reason I went with the ls4 intake bc it was cheap and fit under the hood and I’ve also come to the realization that if I use a as trailblazers intake it may do the job but then goes on trying to find one

I know the truck stuff puts the Alternator up there a good bit, so you must have some room. That LS4 Intake is garbage on flow, you'll gain power with that Trail Blazer SS or the NBSS Intake. They are out there that is what I would go with.

OMG, it's an LS4 intake?! I thought it was an LS2 pass car, which is already not a great choice. Literally the worst flowing intake of any LS variant every made (even an LS1).

Only good use for an LS4 intake:

Hey guys I know it wasn’t a great choice on flow but in my defense it was cheaper then any other option out there and I just wanted it to fit and be running faster I’m in the works of getting a 102 fast intake soon lmao but yea sadly it’s a ls4 im also thinking about doing some porting on it to see what I can get out of it

id like to quote myself here after further research ive learned with a simple port i can gain 30+ hp from porting it with the headers ive gone with and a few other things i should see just about 325 wheel hp but again i wont know until i do it and i also wanna add sometime by the end of the year ill be putting a red hot cam and going for a stroker 383 out of this 5.3 im hoping with the fast intake ill see somewhere around 500 whp but again im not really sure

The TBSS intake will be the best one to have JUST short of the FAST 102. It might even be all you need.

The FAST would work better with the bigger cubic inches. In the mean time that TBSS/NBSS is your best bet for what it is. LS4 Intake was cheap because it's trash on flow. Looks ugly too.

ima be honest sir if the ls4 intake looks ugly then the ls1 ls2 and ls3 and ls6 with the ls7 all are going to be ugly bc they all are made of the same concept yes the ls4 intake is garbage on flow but a simple port fixes that issues(side note doesn’t matter I got lucky and got a tbss yesterday) they all look identical yes there are some differences but the general layout of them are all the same

The LS4 is the only one with the side bracing and the Throttle Body flange on an angle. The others are straight out and symmetrical on the center line. That LS4 is ugly..

THat TBSS going to be the best way to do what you want to do with it. They make good power too.
