Correct Belt w/o Power Steering
Can anyone tell me the correct belt to use, and routing if I dont use power steering?
Here is all that I can come up with, and its not really conclusive...

"The belt goes from the alternator pully (take of the roller on the alternator brace), under the water pump around the tensioner, down under the crank pully and back around the alternator. You will have to remove the bottom bolt on the alternator brace as it will rub the belt (you'll see what I mean immediatly). I can't remember the belt length at the moment, but when I ordered my ASP pulley Thunder Racing told and sent me the correct belt for my application."

I took my old belt and cut it, then wrapped it in the desired patern then cut it to the correct length and measured it. Then a quick trip to NAPA and they got me a belt. I might be able to see the number on the belt, I'll look tonight.
I didn't remove the bottom bolt, I just ground the side of it off for clearance.

Send me a PM with your email and I'll send you a pic of how I set mine up and rerouted it slightly different to the short belt mod, for continual uage without P/S you want good contact with water pump.

that quote has the correct routing, I didnt even need to remove the upper pulley on the alternator, but yes you do need to remove the lower alternator bolt.
I used a kelly 52" 6 rib belt from autozone/advanceautoparts. it fit perfectly on my f-body LS1, w/o power steering and with the stock crank pulley.

Yep, that's what the numbers mean. I relocated the alternator so I needed a different sized belt. Just measure the belt route with a string or some other means and go to the parts store. Replace the 52 with the number of inches of the belt that you need.

So it sounds like there are a few ways to do this:
Without the alternator pulley
with the alternator pulley with the belt under it
swap the alternator pulley with a 6-rib pulley and run the belt over the new pulley
Any opinions which is best? Anyone ever loose a belt with any of these techniques?
Thanks for all the help guys!

well I would like to run more belt-contact with the water pump pulley but I'd need another pulley to do that, like a second tensioner pulley possibly. but I have had zero problems and I dunno if anyone has had problems with a setup like mine (the most basic setup).
