A lot depends on what you spend on the motor and trans. My son is doing a LS1/4L60E into his 70 GMC 1/2 ton, so that would be similar to your 61 Apache. We paid $3200 for the engine/trans and will be into it a little under $7000 when we get done. Good luck.

Welcome aboard.....and the answer to your question is "depends"! Here's a breakout of my cost sheet but I was very particular about what I wanted replaced or modified on my G-body swap http://home.earthlink.net/~bzdel/PhaseISwapCost.htm

so far I have had a lot of help with friends with lots of extra parts and i have spent $2,100 on a fresh long with milled and valved heads and a nice cam $349 on a set of F body headers. About seven on the fuel system and I got a t56 for two hundred rebuilt, about $60 bucks to shorten the drive shaft and i spent about twenty bucks on material to build the cross member and solid motor mounts. I'm in the process of trimming a 2001 wiring harness that i got for $195 I found a cpu for $175. Its not finished yet but it will probably be around $3500-$4000 but as long as you have time and a budget you can geter done! Rock on retro

finished my 89 s-10 with a 2001 ls1/t56 and I started it up and have drove it a couple of times now. Lots of little things to do, but I got it where its at now for 5000.00 I made everything needed for the swap myself and got the motor and tranny with computer, harness and accessories for 3200 combined from separate sellers. It all depends on how much fabricating skill you have and what you get your motor and tranny for. I also modded my wiring harness myself, which saved a lot. good luck

I'm over $7000 just on the engine and accessories I've bought for it, and the install pieces. I probably have $3-5000 left before it'll be drivable, not counting bodywork, etc.
