I`m looking for a complete LS1
Hello,
I`m building a 69 camaro pro touring car and I`m ready to buy the engine (LS1)and trans. (4l60e) I want a complete engine package including water pump, alternater, power steering pump, all accessories, pulleys and brackets.
Who offers the best deal and includes all the parts mentioned above? Looking for a "new" crate engine, not used. Would like about 450hp. Also, what do I do for a computer and wiring harness? Who sells 4l60e trans?
Sorry for so many questions, thanks for any help in steering me in the right direction.
Kurt

If you search 'ls1 engine' on e-bay you'll you'll see at least 5 complete f-body
pullouts listed (including f parts and contemporary).
Got mine from Contemporary corvette near Philly. Very helpful to deal with.

Why not just get a new LS2 crate motor for 5,250 from gm parts direct. complete except for harness and computer and accessories. You could get the accessories and brackets on ebay used. Maybe speartech can make you a harness to run it off of an Fbody Computer. I would just get a new trans from one off the performance transmission companys. I don't know your budget you would be spending 8-9K this way verses 3-4k using a used engine and trans. It would be cool to have the first LS2 conversion in to an old camaro. For about 20 grand you might be able to do a whole car with suspension and tires and a good paint job. I know it allways easier spending someone else money. Good Luck, Cheers

Thanks for the reply`s,
I have looked at e-bay and prices are not too bad for as much as you get but I really want to get a fresh motor. I was looking at Car craft I believe and saw a place called "turn key engines" and they sell a few different engine packages and it looks like they spice them up a little with the different HP figures. They advertise more power than a stock crate LS1 on a couple so that`s inviting. I`ll check it out some more and see what the deal is on these baby`s.
I have looked at the LS2 and that looks like a nice piece too.Where would I get a computer for that? I see speartech can make a harness.
Thanks again,
Kurt

You can use an LS1 computer and harness to run an LS2.
See https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iv-internal-engine/243997-ls2-402-short-block-sdpc.html for a cool deal on an LS2 stroker package.
Kris Jones from SDPC can also hook you up with an LS1 or LS2 crate motor pretty easily. I've spent a lot of time on the phone with Kris in the last couple weeks before ordering my 402 LS2, and I will say that he is one of the best people I've ever dealt with over the phone - very knowledgeable about his products, nice guy, quikc to get back to you on answers to questions, etc. I highly recommend him.

If you are looking for 450 hp then the new LS-2 would put you right where you need to be. What a killer pro touring powerplant! It will even idle nice and smooth! Speartech would help you make it plug-and-play.

autokraft,
i also have a 1st gen camaro that will soon be receiving a EFI engine & auto tranny. i'm still debating on going with either a ls1/ls2/(or ls7 if the prices stays under 10k) or EFI w/ a traditional intake. i like the look of a round air cleaner, especially in a 60's car. for the ls1, i've looked @ speartech.com ($5800 for turnkey used engine & tranny). for the traditional intake, i've found http://www.musclecarengines.com/chev...%20engines.htm & edelbrock's performer efi engines (both are ~8k for new engine, no tranny)

I got my setup from them also. Great service. I ended up with a 2001 LS1 with 6,000 miles on it. Engine to rear end and copy of title. Forget exactly what I paid but your price is a few hundred less than what I paid. I had a great deal at the time, but it looks like prices are coming down.
