Default Block hugger headers

Has anyone tried a set for their swap? I see several companies offer them. Experience? Recommendations? I am looking at this more from a "will it fit" perspective, not so much "will it perform."

thanks

Pat

I tried the Heddman block huggers and they fit ok...but the workmanship left a lot to be desired. Went and modified they originals to keep that factory look.

Thanks Pete, What mods did you make to the originals? I am concerned about that huge flange at the outlet, I think it will hit my steering box.

With my car, the stock passenger side ran right into the subframe connector at the fire wall. Using the '99 T/A (same as Camaro) manifold, which is a double walled unit, I brought the flange down between the last two cylinders which gave me clearance from the A-arms and the subframe connector.I had even tried the Corvette manifolds, but modifying the stock unit even with the double wall of stainless steel (vs cast iron) looked the better route. Hopefully my welding will hold up!

Are we talking regular SBC block huggers or LS1 block huggers?

According to the "experts" ,including GM, the small block & LS1 are one and the same.............but for those of us who've tried them both, we know different.

Default Block huggers?

I tried the Covette manifolds, they tuck in pretty close and clear everything on my 1935 Ford

Thanks, I have a set of the Corvette manifolds and will try them, but I think because they come down in the middle they will hit my cross member. I have just been studying the manifolds on my 5.3 Silverado and they look like they would dump far enough to the rear, without that huge flange that the F Body manifolds have, that they would clear my steering box. Truck manifolds might be the answer. Nice to know I have options.

There might be a difference between the regular Corvette manifolds and the Z06 manifolds, as the Z06 manifolds I have dump just rear of the center, which is further back than the block huggers do.

Oscar what are those pipes made of, mild steel and you just coated them?
What size primary and what size collector do they have?

Also do you have a front shot of the engine and that side header, I just want to see the angle they come out on.

That was the only place I could find to put an airbox with filter....on top of the intake. It works well, very little intake noise. Those are stock 1997 Corvette "stamped steel" manifolds, I'd say the primaries are about 1 3/4" maybe, the collector is 2 1/2". I ran 2 1/2" all the way with a Spintech x-pipe and 2-in...2-out Spintech muffler. The headers are ceramic coated.
