Default Mustang Ls1 headers

I saw a thread about getting mustang 1 3/4 primary headers and cutting the flange off and welding the ls1 flange on. Does any one have any pics and do i need to get a set of headers that go around the steering shaft or not?

You can use 351 headers, cut the flange off, and weld on a LS1 flange.
I think!, not positive, but you might need to modify one tube around the steering shaft(cant remember if its just dent it, or if you need to add a new section)
Ill see if I can find pics
send a PM to Lane, hes done it before.

I used the bbk 1 3/4 fox body 302 headers, and gmpp header flanges for my rx-7 swap. Was pretty straight foward, cut the flanges off, used a flarer to bring the primariers out to round again. I slid them into the ls1 flanges and welded on the inside. The spacing was perfect, took about 4 hours total. As for the fit in you case I wouldn't know, but if you get a set and the fit in your chassis well, don't be afraid to cut them up.

On bbk's website there is a scratch and dent section, has used/tested stuff, they did have a few sets of the chrome ones for $230, and a set of the ceramic for $280. I was going to pick them up until I found these on ebay for $230, and they came with a set of 3" collectors I welded on too. The bbk # for the ceramic just adds a 0 to the end of the part # I believe.

Guy I know did the swap, he just bought some 351 headers off the local mustang message board here used...
You could pick some up for as cheap as $100-$150.....

Will only the 302/351W headers work or will the mod motor headers work also? The reason I ask this is I'm planning a LS1 swap into a Ford Focus using the Krugel Komponents kit. They offer shorty 302 headers or full-length 4.6 headers....I would really like full length. Alll help is appreciated!

Its all about the width between each tube, and angle of the head, with the modular being so much wider...
Id try the 351 headers first, get used set of longtubes, before you cut em up check clearance, go from there....
Being a pioneer is cool, but has drawbacks...
But once you know, knowledge is a cool thing

Cool LS1 Focus!!!

This would be a sleeper for sure. Those Kugel boys have fit a ford 4.6 dohc v8 in a focus, so I think an LS1 will fit. Great idea, LS1 Focus, keep us posted.

Is it the ZX3 hatchback? That's definitely a mean car. I'm planning on a ZX4 4-door, so hopefully even more unexpected.

BTW, I really didn't mean to highjack the thread...sorry!
