Default LQ4/4L80E in a Jaguar XJ6 - almost there!

Here are a couple pics of the engine swap I'm doing into a 1985 Jaguar XJ6.

As you can see, the the engine mount holes almost line up. The oil pan is hanging up on the steering rack and not letting the engine fall into the mounts. I either need a deeper sump which I doubt I'll find, or just a thinner oil pan.

I'm actually waiting to buy a wrecked Trans Am or Z28 because I want the aluminum block to save some weight on my already VERY heavy car... and I need pretty much the whole FBody A/C system which will prob be expensive to buy piece by piece. I plan on tearing it down for a rebuild, and when I do, put the bare block in and measure from that. Hopefully the FBody or vette pan will work.

Check out my website for more pics!

Looks like you are making some progress. Are you going to have room for your turbo?????

Instead of modifying the oil pan would you have enough hood clearance to put some spacers in to raise the cross member motor mount bracket? Looks like if you raise the bracket it would line up with the engine mount. Just a thought.

Ya know, I read that Suncoast conversion manual cover to cover for the first time last weekend and noticed they mentioned shimming the engine mounts... and now that you mention it, that might actually work. I think they said you could go up about half an inch? It will definitely be worth looking into next time I test fit.

How's your Jag coming btw? We need to see some pics!

I had the same problem with the oil pan not clearing the center link in my Monza. I had a local shop cut and weld my Camaro oil pan for clearence. It now fits really well. What part of Pittsburgh are you in?

Yea, good chance it may come to that point for me too with the oil pan...

I'm from the McKeesport area, about 35 mins SE of the city.

I never saw that one before! Still don't know if it will work in my car though... I am sure it would be good for other applications though
