Another thing is pushing 1000hp from 3 liters is not the same as 1000hp from a 5.3. I bet the turbo torque doesn't come in til about 4500rpm, and when it does it probably hits too hard. The flatter more linear power bands of turbo v8s are more fun I think. Turbo response is most likely better with a v8, obviously.
It all depends on the turbo. A greddy 88 is like an on/off switch, while some other turbos of the same size or bigger are MUCH smoother. Smaller turbo's in the < 71mm size produce a very nice power band/curve.
Bottom line is, for a 2j, 1000 rwhp will not be made on a turbo that hits full boost below 5k rpm with n2o.
