Default Just finishing up my LS1 240Z

Just buttoning it up now and took my first spin around the block last week.
Definitely gets out of it's own way...
This site and hybridz have both been great sources for information.

Love the way it's sits back from the strut towers. Must handle real well. I bet the weight difference is minimal between the straight six and the LS1.
I think you are also vastly understating the performance when you say it gets out of it's own way. I bet it's frightenely fast.
I still haven't adjusted my throttle in order to get WOT, too afraid.

Car has been apart for quite awhile.
I had a very built datsun 6 in it before, maybe a 250 hp hand grenade and I know it cost more to build than what the used LS1 cost me.
Never really wanted to go the v8 route when it was the older iron block but then I started to read about some LS1 swaps.
Bolting in a 330hp F/I motor with a 6 speed was almost a no-brainer decision.
Weight addition is supposed to be between 30 and 100 lbs based on accessories used haven't cross weighed it yet but I'm sure the balance is at least as good if not better. At the same time I did the motor I replaced the rear with a larger LSD unit from an Infiniti and replaced the stock u-joint half shafts with custom axles and cv joints.
It's also got adjustable suspension at all four corners and wilwood front and rear.
I've only blasted around the block a couple of times to date but it's pretty fast.
I was under it last night checking all the torques on all the fasteners, nothing has loosened up so now I can feel pretty comfortable flogging it.

What's a first gen Z?

The 240Z was the first Z that cam e into the us.Followed by the 260Z and 280Z,I see people always call them first gen Z's.

The early 240 is about as first gen as it gets.
This car is a 71 and I have an early 70 also, the install would be the same in the 70.

Again, REALLY nice install. The car looks all together. Any steering issues? Using the OEM rack?
I would really like to see some pictures of the rear diff and half shafts.
Although the Audi V8 rear I used is supposed to be bullet proof I want to look at alternatives just in case.
My email is peter@titaniumfasteners.com
Thanks

Really nice Z. Don't see any of those anymore in the snow belt, they all rusted away.

Not sure how light it is yet, should be weighing it at an autocross in a couple of weeks.
The wheels are a BBS knock-off pretty light 17x7.5 with 245/45.17 on each corner.
This is the rear diff mount for the Infiniti rear end and a shot of the CV joint axles. It's also using the aluminum camaro driveshaft that I had shortened and mated to a conversion flange for the Q45 diff.

Need to pull the stuff out and have it powdercoated now, wanted to wait until after I drove it to make sure it didn't do anything funky.
