Default 55 LS1 Chevy Truck project, what do you think?

After spending several months with the frame, striping, sandblasting painting, powder coating, power brakes I finally mounted the cab today and did a test motor installation.
I have a 01 A4 with 47K miles.

Here's what needed;
Motor mounts - Modify or buy S&P type plates
Trans mounts - Purchase needed, where to get it?
Notching the K-Member for Compressor and Oil pan clearance
Modifying the MAC headers or get new one.
Get wiring harness and PCM work done - WaitForMe gonna do it.

I'm starting to feel a lot better now that I've actually put the motor in for the first time.

That frame is spotless. Are you going with an auto or manual? Keep us upto date on this project. Should be sweet when its done.

Thanks,
It's a auto (4L60E), I'm going with a TCI 3500 Stall, Ported TB and Mac headers first to get the minor issues worked out then I'll add the TSP Torquer 2 Cam, TSP CNC ported 5.7 heads and the assorted bolt ons.

Por-15, that thing is very flexable and does not chip. I sprayed all the parts with the Silver and black Por-15.

I can't decide between POR-15 and powdercoating. Any insights?

Depends on time and money, I had the time but not the money, so I went with the POR-15, if I had the money I would get everything powder coated.
But the Semi Gloss Black look just like powder coat. I went to the parts store with a control arm to get some info on bushing and everyone asked if it was powder coated.
If you're going with POR-15 and spraying I would suggest to get a HPLV spray gun (HarborFreight) and thin the POR a little.

Thats a sweet project looks like me and you are going the same route. You are a little ahead of me on the body work and I am now in the process of boxing my frame.

Looks like you got your torque tube extended. How/Where?

It isn't extended. the wheel base is now only 111.5 inches instead of 114 but it affects nothing and everything still lines up perfect.

What radiator are you using? And will it work in the 57?

That is the stock c5 radiator and yes it fits and lines up correctly without any clearance issues. Not sure what I am gonna do with the radiator fill tank yet. may get rid of it and get a billet style.

Where did you get the extra 7"? The C5 is 104.5" stock and I had to move my rear suspension aft 7" to get to 111.5" Now I need to either extend the torque tube or the transaxle. Looks like you are using the front and rear C5 cradles so I'm confused how it can be 111.5 without an extension somewhere. Just curious if there's a better way I'm overlooking?

The front suspension was moved forward. Motor mounts aren't the C5 mounts they are custom.

Ok. That makes sense. So your valve covers will also serve as heated arm rests J/K Can't wait to see more pics of both of these tri-fives
