2000 GForce GF-05 Indycar.
Currently working with a junkyard Gen III 5.3 iron block truck motor to test fit everything and work on prototype engine mounting.
Here's a link to my blog that describes the story of the car and the work that I've done to date:
Now that I've gotten to the engine stage and potentially converting a Corvette C5 transaxle, I wanted to share with the group as I'm going to have a lot of oddball questions since this isn't a typical swap. I've been lurking on this forum for quite awhile now trying to learn as much as possible from all of you guys.
I'm not planning to do anything too crazy with the engine performance-wise. The things I don't know are about mounting the engine semi-stressed and just packaging everything. Most of my early questions are going to be about converting a Corvette transaxle for placement directly behind the engine. I found a really good write up by HKfanatic over at www.pro-touring.com with a lot of good information to get me started, but I'll be asking you guys for plenty of help I'm sure.
Just don't expect rapid progress. I work full time during the day and then I'm taking classes to get my AutoCAD certification so I don't have as much time as I'd like to work on the car. I'm getting my certification for work, but the upside is that by the end of the semester, I'll be able to start designing the rear subframe.
I am a First Timer to your site. I originally came to obtain some information on LS swaps but was surprised by how much infor was here. My LS swap began in March 2017 when I removed
a Chevy 350 with T-5 transmission. That was my second swap. Before that there was a 327 motor with Turbo 400 trans. Bodywork took almost 5 years( working mostly on weekends).
I build a rotisserie to repair the undercarriage. The whole car was commercially sandblasted then epoxy primed. I did all of the work( including painting) in my home garage. If you want to see the whole project , go to HybridZ forum under GenIV engines to Heavy Duty Frame Rails. The car is a 71 Datsun 240z with Greddy Rocket Bunny Body Kit, Wilwood front discs brakes, shortened Coil Over suspension,T-56 transmission and new Crate LS3 motor
I found an ad for a 1985 300zx with a LS swap already in it for sale.... the guy said all I had to do was do all the wiring for it and it would run.... a couple questions as this is the first project of this size I would be taking on. 1)how much money am I looking at for buying a wiring harness for the thing and 2) i am going to look at this car in 3 days, anything I should watch out for other than than the usual rust, body patches, checking the VIN? I will be throughly looking over the car before I buy and would like to know some tips for what to look for if possible lol dont want to waste my money.
I would inspect what already has been done. If it has been hacked together so far, I’d walk away. If you can, determine what the engine actually is that would be great. Also look closely to make sure the car hasn’t been wrecked or damaged and repaired. A friend of mine looked at a nice looking 240z only to find that it had been “back halved” from a severe rear end crash...not good. Wiring is just how much do you want to spend, check out some of the harnesses installed by members of this board. This type of project is not for the faint of heart, it’s not real easy, takes a lot of time and money. Good luck.

If the seller has the old engine should I take it? Cause if I can’t get it with the LS the stock engine should be plug and play right?
I would take the original power train if he has it...should just plug back in unless it was “junkyard” pulled.
I just bought the car. It had the LS in it since the last owner and was running at one point with it. The guy hooked up some stuff and the engine was cranking. Do you know how I can do the wiring to get it running?
