The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
Dropped into a 2004 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited - The engine mounts from Dave's Customs Unlimited I used are listed for Generation III engines, but Generation IV engines as far as I know uses the same mounting dimensions. It worked fine.
Rebuilt the NV231 transfer case with bigger components and swap the input shaft to mate it to the 6L80E using a Novak adapter.
The hardest part was all the time spent figuring out the correct engine brackets to use. I started with Holley brackets, but they were too wide. I ended up with ICT Billet brackets that tucked the AC compressor and alternator in closer.
I did all of the wiring, harness grooming, and conversion. I kept the Body Control Module(BCM) to run the added door locks, retain factory GM security keys, keyless entry, and a bunch of other stuff. I tossed the stock computer and the instrument cluster gets its data translated from GMLAN to Chrysler PCI with a Scarlet Performance unit.
The Jeep is getting better gas mileage compared to the stock 4.0L with the Chrysler 42RLE automatic. I need to get more data, but it is fluctuating between 18 to 22 MPG right now.
I have a summary thread with pictures over on the Wrangler Forum: https://www.wranglerforum.com/f322/l...j-2340899.html
2005 LS1/4L60
Will edit to pics soon. I bought a project that was started by someone else. I am an old school gear head, but this my first LS swap, and I am trying to sort out what was done and with what parts. My plan is to complete it this winter. Hoping I can get a lot of info on LS1Tech forums to help figure it out!
If you have questions, please start a new thread below in the non sticky section.
2016 L83 mated with an 8L90 that's adapted to a 241J.
Not going the typical kit, so wanted to have a place to detail what I did so if I ever needed to come back to a reference or ask questions in a place familiar with these engines.
Build in process
Body is off frame right now. Motor and tranny are trial fitted into frame. Waiting on aftermarket wiring harness I ordered. Tranny will have to come back out for rebuild and new torque convertor. Body is ready to put back on frame after I get the wiring, exhaust, brake and fuel lines done. C6 Vette Z51 brakes on both ends. New Quick Performance 9" with 370 Yukon Posi and CalTracs.
