Default Straight-Up Thermostat Housing

Well I searched the archives but didn't see an aftermarket housing available for sell for less than $100. So I decided to modify the one I have by cutting it at a 35 degree angle, rotated it around so it would be a "straight-up" housing.
But before having the housing tig welded, I wanted to remove the thermostat from the housing but it appears that it's "riveted" to the housing (?) . I didn't want to drill the rivet out, then have problems later.

Stock position.

Modified position before tig welding.

You can get an all billet straight thermostat housing from CSR Performance for $35. It also does away with the LS1 T-stat and uses one from a standard Chevy small block.

Before I cut, fitted and brought this housing to the welder to be tig welded,
I called them yesterday and was told they didn't make a housing for it, only for 283-400 sbc intake manifold??? Do you have a stock number?

BTW I also called Billet Specialties and was told the same thing .

Okay guys, I called again and spoke to the Tech Dept and was told they DO sell them. Click on "search" and punch in the
Part number 911LS1 for $34.77.

Well as the adage goes, "ask and you shall receive"...thanks LS1Diva

Well now does anyone know if the Vortec 5.3 housing is the same as the LS1 housing?
