I guess that means you don't want to build a couple dozen sets for the rest of us.....

Looks great! Once they're Jet Hot'd, they ought to look fantastic!

New question...

Has anyone used a sanden compressor in the factory low mount location? And does that fit without notching the crossmember?

Sorry for all the q's...
Trying to plan before I get the truck.

On 1-1-06 ls6jimmy posted

GM makes 3 4l60e tranny's: one that doesn't have a removeable bellhousing and 2 that has a removeable bellhousing. One of those is designed for LSX series and the other for s-10, astro vans, and full size trucks with the 4.3. If you want to use your tranny then this is what you have 2 do(b/c this is what I did) change the bellhousing to a LSX bellhousing, the input shaft, and stator.
Please correct me if i'm wrong, but, couldn't we use the 6.0/4L80 flexplate and spacer, and avoid tearing into the trans?

Wouldn't this be just like putting a 350/400/700 behind an LS1? Or, am I missing (misunderstanding) something?

yes they will with some modification. That is what i have in mine. i had to modify the p/s area to mount the 2.2 p/s pump the original pulley was too big of a dia.

My truck is all in pieces right now...basically...the ls1 and trans are mounted.....will be getting to work on wiring this weekend and I should be getting my corvette bracketry either tomorrow or the next day. Going to pick up my headers this comming saturday. So as you can see I am well into the swap, I'm just at the point right now where everything needs to be hooked up. I was hoping to get this done before school starts back up...but I only have untill the beggining of april before it starts, at this point I don't think I will get done untill beggining of september sometime....I have no idea what I'm gonna do about getting home from my highschool in the afternoon.....owell as long as I have an LS1 in my truck...it doesn't bother me..

Oh...also thought I'd ask, what are you guys doing for a cooling system? What kinda fan, radiator, etc. I live in Arizona..so it gets hot, plus I'm retaining A/C. I'm thinking 4.3 radiator(while LS1 is mostly stock, later get one fabbed), puller fans of course(not sure what kind?), headers will be jet hot coated, will be putting a cowl hood on the truck. I figure all that and a coolant additive will keep the truck cool? Suggestions?
Thanks.

I was going to use the stock 4.3 radiator until I found out their are 2 kinds.A 1 1/4-1 1/2 (cant remember which) in 4x4's and most auto 4.3's and a 5/8 in manual trans,I have the 5/8 radiator . I will be buying the be cool radiator from jegs for about $320,and using ls1 fbody electric fans.I think the fans will fit w/minor trimming.

I used the 4.3l Auto Radiator....its i think 1 1/4" with 2 SPAL fans....driver side is a 14" and pass side is a 12". It is tight with the F-body spacing....but does fit...and cools great. i have a 160* tstat and have the #1 fan programed to turn on at i think 180 and off at 173...and the #2 fan to come on at 195 and off at 184. On my aeroforce scangauge....it has never even gotten hot enough to turn on the #2 fan. I dont have a/c yet...but i do live in FL where we see pretty warm temps also. So I dont think the A/C will make it go over the #2 fan capability....it will idle all day is traffic at about 180 to 185. These aluminum block motors dissipate heat tremendously fast. Hope this info helps.

alright sounds good. My truck was originally an auto 4.3 so I had just bought a new 4.3 radiator like 5 months ago or so because my old one was leaking. So I'll use that and I was thinking Fbody fans as well. Did you guys have to move the radiator forward at all? My LS1 is set back about as far as possible so I'm hoping I won't have to.

Yep I found out that my 4.3 radiator isn't liking the 95-100 degree weather here especially in traffic so I ordered a Be Cool. I saw someone esle is ordering a Be Cool they have 2 different versions one is 379 and the other is 599.

Yeah I've heard the 4.3L rad is kinda hit or miss it either works or it doesn't the BeCool will def get the job done. Kinda like going after it with a shot gun some times a lil too big is the way to go. Example we are having a really hot summer workin us over right now an it is only gona get worse. My teuck is pretty much stock and it's been running like 215*-220*. So what the hell is that rad gonna do for me when I put the LSx in there?

JTR has aluminum corvette rads that fit with their mounting brackets for about $100 or so less
