I used the mounts from Ebay....which are just JTR mounts really. And yes everything fits very nice. I just had to notch for oilpan clearance and I will run a high pass side A/C. Slid right in like butter.

ok, having problems with waterpump, my lq4 pump wont work, the hose neck is where the throttle body hits, so i changed to my dad's old waterpump, but apparently the f-body pully wont line up with the rest... next problem, i can do a conversion on my lq4 pump because it doesnt have the provisions... so im stuck, is there a pully maybe from march that would work? or do i (and I TRUELY REALLY HOPE NOT) have to get a new water pump?

What access drive are you using?

If you're using the truck drive, the only solution I know of is to rework the truck pump.

Basically, you need to remove the stock hose neck and plug the hole. Then drill the front boss and install a new hose neck. I know its easier said than done.

Other solution would be to have some custom spacers made to space the f-body water pump out the correct distance from the block, which might be the easiest thing. Just need some alum chunks, which you'd need to drill the appropriate holes in, which might be fun since two of the 10 holes are square (not impossible to drill square holes, just more challenging). To go with that you'd need an extra set of gaskets, and super long bolts.

your probably best off running the f-body water pump. as long as it fits behind your rad. then the alt/ps bracket gets spaced forward 3/4". you might need to change your balancer as well, depending on which one youre using.

Rather than spacing it out why not just get a C5 underdrive pulley??? An ASP unit only costs $100 or so, so why not.

PS C5 and fbody water pumps are one and the same.

If you're using Vette brackets, here's what you'll need:

1.) Either a Vette balancer (stock or underdrive) or a F-body balancer (which will require spacers for the brackets.
1.5) New balancer bolt, since the factory ones are torque to yield and cannot be reused. You could also go to an aftermarket bolt, like ARP. I don't think those have to be replaced each time
1.75) Balancer installer tool. It doesn't slide on (there's no key, its a press fit). The stock bolt isn't long enough to get it on the crank, so you need a tool. Check the tools section.
2.) Vette / F-body water pump. Truck pump won't work with Vette access. You could swap to an electric pump, but its still got to be a car pump. Best choice for radiator / fan clearance is the LS2 / LS7 pump, with the flat nosed pulley which is like 1" shorter.

That's all I can think of....

why is it that we could pull the balancer from the truck and re-install without a new bolt? and, one more question, the tensioner that attatches to the f-body water pump, i got it from the truck water pump, so it lines up with the truck's belt, what can i do for that?

$100 for a new balancer or $5.00 for a few washers, depends what ya wanna spend i guess...

the bolt stretches when you tighten it. once its stretched you cant stretch it the same again. you CAN reuse it, but its a risk, it could come loose.

what are you asking for the second question?

The $5 solution of washers only works if he has an f-body balancer laying around, since the motor originally had a truck balancer.

Personally, I picked up a brand spankin new LS6 take-off balancer for $40 shipped for my truck. Guy had a crate LS6 going into an RX-7, which used f-body accessories.

ok, sounds fine, so just a tensioner off an f-body or vette would work? and I am not sure if the underdrive is worth it or not, what do you all think?

P.S. I think I have decided, If i go with the underdrive, should I get the f-body one or the corvette one? I will also get a billit tensioner, and maybe spring for some nice billit pieces from March or somthing, will the f-body tensioner work with the corvette brackets?

If you decide on an underdrive pulley, it only makes sense to get the one that is matched to your accessories IE C5 balancer. The spacers work, but I feel that's the ghetto way to do things. Again my opinion. As for the tensioner, I'm not sure if they are the same from fbody to C5. Something in my head is saying yes, but I'm not 100% sure. I'd consult the GM parts manual to be 100% certain.

I also found an awesome power steering pulley as well, is it worth getting some dress-up pulley's? any pics of the engine bay I could see to see if I can see the power steering?

I dont have a pic off hand...but the power steering pulley cannot even really be seen unles you look down on it. I think it would kinda be a waste of money to shine it up...unless you are shining everything up with a full billet kit or something.

Nice job, Bucket. Did you have to move the radiator into the core support? How bout having to notch the hood for the alternator? What fans you using? Like the stealth satin black paint job and dark rims. Just noticed the hood brace notching. Was that for the engine cover or the alternator? Thanks

Ok, I just found out the hard way that the truck alternator does NOT fit in the corvette bracket, and even worse still, the pulley wont line up with the f-body water pump, so I am currently on the lookout for corvette stuff, any idea if my power steering pump (from the s-10) will fit in the c-5 bracket?
