I like the Nittos but a buddy with a 03 cobra had them and they only lasted a lil over a year. So I know they wont last long but thats the price I pay for traction. As for the fronts, I have some junk sumitomo HTR Zs that I had on another set of rims for a long time...they are 255-45-18s. They've lasted a long time but I dont know if I'd recommend them. The Blazer also sits a little stink bug with the tire size difference. I may try to fix it with larger diameter fronts but turning radius is already hurtin some so we'll see.

BFG doesn't make at least the rear size you listed. what are you running in the front?

Before the tires had a 5-6 drop but I raised the rear to get more travel so now its a 5-5 drop. The rear looks higher now after these tires whereas it looked level with the same diameter tires before.

so stink bug means *** up? sorry just never heard the expression. also a side note the 285's rub a little too only if I hit a ramp type surface. what I'm thinking about doing though is when I do the rear (8.5") I'll make it 1" wider 1/2" per side, to get some inboard space but not to pass the fender I might roll the inner fender and trim the fender flares (it's an Xtreme) the wider track can't hurt either.

So I guess I might as well jump in now. Been browsing for awhile but my conversion is underway so it's time for me to start posting. I have a 98 reg cab 4-banger thats receiving the swap treatment.

So far it has G-body QA-1 coil over kit up front and drop leafs and new shocks out back. I have an 8.5 rear ready to go in, along with Global West tubular upper control arms and a 12 inch brake upgrade using their junkyard parts (Cadillac spindles, camaro calipers, etc.)

I just bought my T-56 and a H/C LS1 minus the wiring/pcm and haven't decided whether or not to run carbed or buy a PCM and have Current Performance make me a wiring harness.

Oh and it is sitting on 17x9.5 TTII's

Anyways, plent of question to come from me so be prepared lol. Thanks

Rob

Drag radials and cal-tracs or comp engineering "slide a links" are a good setup.

Doesn't seem like it would be too complicated

Ahhh the wonders of the internet. You look long enough you'll find anything you want and how to do/make something.

I am not too worried about driveability, i kind of lost that factor with the cam and the stall, I only want this to be a once or twice a week thing, its going to be on a trailer to and from the track, and well, the only times i'll take it out are weekends to a car cruise or if its nice out just for a ride, so it really doesnt present a problem having a stiff suspension, because there was a point i was thinking 4 link with tubbed rear

I have checked current performance and really like the harness' he makes but. Considering mine is simpler since it's a 96' sonoma and I have a perfect 02 f-body harness how many of you think it is worth the time to fab it myself and I can integrate it into another factory harness so it will be plug and play when I drop it in. I have built my own harness before and never had any trouble but it was out of necessity. The turn key harness is nice but when factored in with all of the extras that always come up when doing a swap such as this I am wondering whether the extra money is best spent elsewhere. I am going to run fans and all of the other good stuff. But since it is an older truck it is a lot more straight forward. We also have alldata at the shop so schematic access is not an issue. what do you think. Thanks

making your own harness, regarless of year of your truck, is retarted simple. the only issue you need to deal with is the stock gauge cluster's tach reading from the new pcm

i would say have the harness re worked by current performance or speartech, however, i was left with the issue that the harness was still set up to go over the intake manifold, so i have to find a way to hide a gigantic mass of wires
