It really depends on if you wanna keep all stock functions...such as ABS and stuff...if you wanna eliminate ABS...then its easy to rework yourself...I did mine myself for the truck and everything...pretty easy for me...cause i have RWAL...not full blown ABS....the 1996 is actually pretty tricky time for GM...if you wanna keep ALL factory functions....trust me ALOT easier to have one made by current performance or speartech...cause i think 96 is one of the years you need to keep BOTH computers to retain all factory setups.

Keeping all of the factory functions is not a problem. The 96' used 4wheel abs but it is a complete ind system it just uses a high res speed signal from the pcm, all of the gauges are normal fare for gm and cruise etc is controlled the same by the newer model pcm. It's just going to be a lot of time which I do not have much of but at the same time the extra money saved on the harness will let me get the headers and have them coated. My truck orignally had a 4cylinder in it when it was new and I swaped in a 4.3 and auto nine years ago. It's just time for the next generation swap.

For those of you that got the current performance harness how was the high and low speed set up. Did it run one for low then turn on a second for high. Or did it use three relays and run both fans for high and low and then series the windings in the motor using the third relay when the pcm commanded low speed only like the stock fbodies and ck trucks do. I am in south texas so airflow is most important.

You would have to call Jared and ask I think. He might do it however the customer asks.

Does anyone know what the collector size is on the headers from current performance. I was getting ready to order some goodies and just trying to get my ducks in a row.

ok, so i searched around for it and couldn't find it. but i was wondering if truck accesories (p/s pump stuff, alternator and bracket) would work instead of vette stuff. for some reason i remember someone saying that it would but i just wanted to make sure.

also, what did yall do for traction?? my blazer has alot of wheelhop with the 4.3 5spd, i just didn't know if the extra hp and an auto tranny would do anything different about that.

I would be interested to know this as well, seems like Corvette accessories are pretty pricey so this would be a nice alternative

I've heard that the Caddilac acessory brackets and a few of the parts themselves are more compact in size and also closer to the engine. I don't know the exact layout but I think it might really help with clearence on a swap. Is it even compatible with another LSX motor that you could swap? or is this not true, any help could be appriciated. Thanks.

This picture illustrates the differences between the accessory drives of the Corvette, Camaro/Firebird and the Truck (disregard the blower, just look at the main crank pulley)

Yes, the Caddilac accessories for the CTS-V (the only car type LSx platform in the Caddy lineup) are a tight compact package. Offset from the block is the same as the Vette stuff. I expect that the CTS-V stuff makes the vette hardware seem cheap, since the production volume is lower for the CTS-V (plus the vette started in '97, the CTS-V is much later).

Be warned, the truck accessories aren't readily compatible with the car intake. It can be made to work, but it will require some work.

Also, the truck accessories sit about 1 5/8" further away from the engine (towards the radiator) in space that an S10 doesn't really have in the first place. Take a look at my CarDomain site, my Bravada runs C5 accessories, modified F-body fans, and the radiator in the stock location (you could move it forward). Its tight.

Good Link Phil!

Another note: The LS2 / LS7 waterpump is shorter (closer to the block) than the LS1 waterpump with the "bell" shaped pulley. By probably 1" or more.

On the flip side though the truck accessories are a cheap way around. There are definitely more compact packages but after seeing all of the truck stuff work on buckets truck along with the intake that is how I am going on mine just because I have it all and the vet stuff adds up so damm quick.

Default truck accessories

My 96 blazer uses the truck accessories. Stock radiator position. Truck intake. I made my own bracket to move the ac closer to the block, same low position. The power steering clears, alternator clears. Notched the 4x4 frame to clear the ac. Its a tight squeeze getting the air intake in but i'm working on a custom carbon fiber one now. Used low profile 12 inch fans from advanced auto for now. Worked in the garage so far. Exhaust manifolds are 99 fbodies modified by cutting off flanges and extending out. Good luck.

I paid $150 for a used pump, bracket, reservoir, & hardware.

Can't say about the alternator, I chose to run the 145Amp truck alternator (and later learned it doesn't bolt on) and ended up making an adapter to mount it. My truck alternator cost me $50 from a salvage yard in Ohio.

I modified my Fbody PS pump and Alternator to work in the Corvette bracket. Its really not that hard to do...more a PITA cause you have to find washers to space out the PS pump...and grind just a TAD bit off the bracket...the alt is about the same...and then use 3/4" spacers to space the bracket out to match the Fbody acc. I only had one leak on my PS pump line...but fixed it and now it all work no flaws.
