Default ok fox stang, 4l60e shifter, something less bulky?

i got the OEM firebird one in and it fits, I just had to cut more of the center console that I really wanted to. Id like to get a smaller shifter, but the problem is, what to do w/ the PN switch that goes to computer? What shifter to go w/?

Thanks
Dave

when i converted my 6 spd camaro to an auto i used the b&m hammer shifter and it fit using the 6spd console and boot with room to spare. plus that's what i'm planning on running on my fox swap project.

ok better question, do you guys let the computer control shifts on the 4l60e or do you manually shift it?

Let the computer do it. Manually shifting doesn't actually shift it anyway - you're more or less just letting the computer know what gear you want, it still has to command the upshift itself.

what did you do about the extra 2 wires. One goes to ground, one to the computer. Grounds computer in neutral and park.

Check out thunder racing. They carry some really clean Mallory Billet shift ***** for the 4l60E. I have one in my car and love it.

Why not just modify the Fox shifter?

Chances are with a dremel and some allthread you can make it work just fine for the 4L60e.

I'm using the stock RX7 automagic shifter in my conversion. I just reversed the little tab that bolts on to the shift lever on the 4L60e, then used a piece of allthread with two heim joints on the ends run between the shift lever and the shifter. I used one reverse thread heim joint so that I could adjust it like a turnbuckle (and welded a nut in the middle of the allthread so I'd have something to grip).

Works great, looks stock, and cost 12 bucks.
