Default Street & Performance Headers- how much power?

I bought a set of Street & Performance headers a while back when I planned on building a relatively tame engine. I am now entertaining the idea of going with the 402 short block from sdpc.

How much horsepower will the S&P headers allow for?

I called S&P and the sales rep told me that they ran a their headers on a ls2 motor that produced 548 HP. There's a graph on their home page indicating that as well.

I wonder though, how much more power would have that motor produced had a better set of headers been put on. Similarly, at what point do the S&P headres start to restrict the HP gains of a motor?

Anyone have any idea?
Any advice is appreciated.

I had called them a while back about headers for my '55 and they only 1 1/2" tube headers for it. I ended up going with Patriot headers which are 1 3/4" tubes.

The headers are shorties.. I ran them on my '69 LS1 car and made 380rwhp with just stage II heads and a 224/224 cam.

If you are making big power you should run mids or long tubes. I would think they would limit a big power motor. Stainless Works and ATS both make LS1 retrofit long tubes but they are pricey..

Unfortunately I've already fabbed up my steering around the S&P headers and am not sure whether I will be to use a different set of headers without having to redesign the steering....
