Default Swap LS7 Into SBC- Sort Of

Hi Folks,

The GTR is designed for an SBC, but it's getting an LS7; thus, the swap. The questions I have are of a general nature regarding the LSx engine.

a) Is there a rear motor mount? If not, what holds the engine up at the back?

b) Is there a specific length from the center of the (SBC) mount to the back of the bell housing flange? With the LS7 test fit, it is just about 12.5".

Here's a page with some photos of the test fit... This site is very much under construction.

Thanks,

There is no rear engine mount. Generally the rear of the engine bolts to the transmission and the transmission is supported at the tailhousing.

This should help:

Ha-ha! Thanks, Bink. We'll see how the logic holds out.

Say will your car pass emissions testing for Washoe County, Nevada? Just wondering.

Just kidding. Nice shop and nice engine. I love to see Ultima's being built.

Ha! Sure... I plan on taking an early 70's block and licensing with that. Then, it will blow up, get rebuilt, and end up in my truck (where it came from). Of course, the Ultima will get an LS7 swap. Otherwise, NO WAY! If that doesn't work, I have a friend in another county.

There's a track day event where I'll be instructing at the end of September. I want to have it there.

They don't really make model changes...minor updates to components along the way, though. The design was released in the early 90s, but still a very effective combination due to flexibility with drive train components.

Thanks, I fixed my sig. Been a while.
