Default 68 Camaro + LQ9

Question for you guys. I used the search and came up with nothing. Can a LQ9 be used in a 68 Camaro without swapping to vette or F-body Accessory Drive? I picked up a 04 20,000 mile LQ9 for $1200 this week end. Figured I couldn't turn that kind of deal down. Now I just need to find a T56 and i'll be in business.

Thanks,

Jason

be the first to try it. That'd be a funky top radiator hose though.. and pretty damn ugly engine compartment.

That looks bad ***. I was referring to the funky intake itself. Id ask what that cover is from, but it'd be
The engine without a cover looks like fido's ***..
Back on topic, Im sure it would clear fine, my hood has 6" of clearance from top of intake. I'll go measure the core-block clearance to determine whether/not truck acc's will fit, tomorrow. what mounts are you going to use?

that engine cover is off a caddi escalade.... they also came on some vortec trucks.... they are the way to go to hide the big intake..... gives it a cleaner look....... id go for it and that'll put down more power and torque then a ls1 intake.... that'll be cool i think.

Guys, I'm going to be running a LS6 intake so looks aren't really an issue. I'm more worried about the accessory locations. I will not be running ac so that not an issue either.

Truck engines do look a 100 times better with the covers on. That cover looks just like the one on my SSS.

"what mounts are you going to use?"

I'm going to run either ebay S&P style or stainless works if they say that their headers won't work with the S&P style mounts.

ok, here's a pic I had of my engine with core support on, no radiator.. There's tons of room.

matt- didnt mean to flame, id only seen the lq9 in my friends silverado, it's got a little "hat" engine cover, with a big plastic fan, and compared to an LS1/2/7, looks pretty ugly. As far as fitment and functionality of the stock LQ9 accessories, they look like they'll work fine.

Edit: i'm using ebay style S&P plates. I'll try to resize that pic..

No problem. Different strokes for different folks. My post had some sarcasm in it so no sweat

I don't mind the intake on the LQx's at all to tell you the truth. I'll end up running the cover anyways though.

Jason, let me know how well the truck accessories fit in the engine bay, if you do end up doing this. I'd like to add it to the sticky, if it works. That'd make any LSX/LQX engine a drop-in.. (except for A/C and oil pan...)

-Matt... I'm just jealous because you've got the extra cubes for cheaper..

K&N style filters are easy to find, aluminum tubing to fab up a system like that is available from http://intakehoses.com/, as well as alot of other places..
