Default Waterpump/heater hose fittings.

What are you guys using for waterpump/ heater hose fittings. I just got a new waterpump and it needs 90 degree fittings where the heater hoses attach. Right now the one on the car has some plastic pieces friction fit and I want something a little better. Was thinking AN 90's with pipe thread, but what size?

Street and Performance has some fittings on page 82 of their 2006 Catalog. I copied them in the picture below. Hope that helps or gives you some ideas.

Thanks, I just found those about an hour ago. Can't believe they want over $40 for each of them. There's got to be a cheaper alternative.

That was my original plan to use pipe to AN fittings. But I have to use 90 degree fittings. Is there enough room between the fittings to spin a 90 degree fitting around?

Use 90 degree swivel adapters, or straight fittings and a 90 degree hose end.

I knocked out the steel hose barbs and welded on some AN #10 fittings. I've then got a couple of 120 degree Earls hose ends and 5/8" braided hose. The aluminium AN #10 weld on fittings are anly a few $$ each and any good welding shop should be able to weld them on for you.

Cheers

LS1 Cobra - What did you use on the other end of the hose where it connects to the heater core?

The connections for my heater core don't extend through the fire wall. I got a pair of AN10 bulkhead fittings and modified them (I haven't got any pics of them installed yet). The bulkhead fitting has a male AN10 on each end and is threaded in the middle so you can put it through a hole in the fire wall and secure it with a nut. The longer end on the inside of the firewall I machined down into a barb to suit regular 5/8" heater hose. in behind the dash I'm just using regular heater hose to go from the bulkhead fittings to the heater core.

Cheers

I wanted to keep the engine bay as clean as possible so machined up some aluminium brackets for the coils and re did the loom.

Here's a pic of the coil brackets:

Here's one mounted in the end of the foot box:

I'm getting a set of custom length leads made up shortly. just got to get my headers baolted on again and measure them up. It'll be interesting to see how they perform.

Cheers

I tapped each hole 1/2"NPT and then used one 90 ell (AN-10 to 1/2NPT) and one straight (AN-10 to 1/2NPT) then used one straight, and one 90 degree AN hose fitting. Just be careful tapping out the smaller of the two holes. I ruined one water pump b/c the casting cracked; newer water pumps (04 and up) have more meat in that area and I had no problem (with the newer pump)
