Well, today leaves us with why dont the ARP LS1 Clutch bolts fit the SPEC flywheel,

get out to the garage cause Idols on, that means all the women are on the couch!!!

cleaned the Pressure Plate, and the flywheel, started bolting things together and slap, stuff dont fit!, SPEC flywheel uses smaller hardware than stock flywheel size, off to Ace Hardware tomorrow!!! for some nice zinc washed Grade 8 bolts!

Trans is nice and clean, put on the extended bleeder hose and new throwout bearing, so, couple of bolts and I'm golden, pics to follow,

maybe with a clutch installed, or the trans installed on the motor, !!!!

little progress!!

need to get a new trans mount, I modified the other, then redid the crossmemeber, so it no good,

Poly or rubber????

Have bolts in hand,

FYI, I know here in FL we have Ace Hardwares, almost 3 aisles of bolts and hardware, Today I found AN(Army/Navy) grade of hardware, I was looking for small washers for the 3/8 bolt that hold the Pressure Plate to the flywheel, pic to come for a better explanation!

And now tonights progress!!! kinda sound like Monty Python "and now for something completely different"

As in the previous post, obtained the new bolts, lost 3 hours dropping off kid#1, going to dinner with woman and step kid #2, shopping at BJ's, the hounds are hungery!!!
here's a couple of pics of the AN washers VS reguler 3/8 washers, and the old/new ARP hardware and the new grade 8 zinc stuff,

the AN ones are on the right, proof reading helps, there the ones on the LEFT!!!

installed clutch and pressure plate, add Loctite, torque, no problems!

slide trans to engine, line everything up, trans slide right in! no binding, no fuss, no problems!!!! big progress, I'm digging it!!! now for some pics!

the finished product, well there's a whole lot more to bolt on!!

The combo looks nice together! What did you clean the transmission with? I looked back at a previous pic and it was pretty dirty.

The AN fasteners, are they marked "AN" or is it a different grade like a number grade? The washers look alot thicker and more durable. You gonna fire her up by the weekend? HUH?

Thanks, I used Simple Green and a purple Scotchbrite, it cleaned up rather nice, I'm glad there together, now to move on to the power steering pump, waterpump, alternator, and to get my A/C compressor, but since I have all that basically buttoned up,

I can start cutting out the closeouts for the mini tub, finish up the firewall, lots to do!

I screwed up the washer pics the washers on left are the AN ones, they are thinner than the regular washers, and they fit under the bolt head better, since it was going in a tight area like the pressure plate,

they're marked AN in the trays,

I really doubt I'll have it fired up this weekend, I haven't bought a battery and gas is too expensive, HA! lol......

Everything gets cleaned,

I was going to run a LS6 steam vent, but I think I'm going to just take a Dremel and grind the fins off the bottom of the intake, so everything fits, start on that later today,

I'm going to modify the LS6 intake buy grinding down the fins underneath, in the area where the stock LS1 steam vent tube fits, I've heard of this on the Corvette fourms, guys were have detenation problems in #7 and they were thinking it was because of air pockets in the head, of course this is on a all out race car,

I had my GM parts guy look up the number but he didn't find a seperate number for the block offs and front tube, I didnt push the issue, he a one man show, so he's busy,

Others were worried about ruining the value of the intake, I say who cares it's time to get a FAST 90 anyways, it's only money!!!!

I'm going to work on that and some other stuff,

Can you call UPS and change the address on the delivery of the Ricks tank. Tell them to send it to Germanton, N.C. and someone will be here to sign for it.
