Default Upgrades for your conversion

For those who have done or are doing a LS1 conversion, what kinds of upgrades have you done to your motor? I am thinking cam or LS6 intake and maybe a LS6 oil pump. I just don't think I would stick it in there stock....I have tinkeritis bad

I had a '01 motor so I already had the LS6 intake. In addition to my signature items, I put in a ported oil pump and LS2 timing chain. The chain is a little heavier duty than the LS1 chain and didn't cost much. I still have not fired her up yet.

I went with the "hot cam" kit valve springs and ZO6 intake along with the C5 timing chain and guide kit. Aside from that was a complete balance job and blueprinted it during assembly.

i started with a new 99 block and put 2004 internals into it with a ls6 intake,mahle file to fit rings,arp bolts,ls6 oil pump.

Mine started as a 2000 TransAm. LS6 intake manifold, LS6 PCV conversion as documented at LS1Howto.com, LS6 Valve springs, Yank Stealth 2800 converter, ETC throttle. Performance will also benefit from the Sanderson Headers and Flowmaster true duals, and I chnaged my rear end gears from 2.79 open to 3.80 posi.

Other than that I left it stock.

I ported the stock manifolds (well, 2001 manifolds), put in a cam, ported oil pump, upgraded springs/ti retainers, stall converter, nitrous, and upgraded the rod bolts and replaced the bearings with Clevites.

Tossed in a new style LS2 chain while I was at it as well as all new gaskets.

upgraded to 01 heads+ valve covers,
LS6 intake,
ASP pulley,
MSD wires, (3 stockers broke)
Pacesetter LT's,
RAM clutch,
ported tb,
!air, !egr,


cam coming soon, once it's running..

Bored and stroked 6.0 block to 423 does that count as an upgrade

having read all that you guys have posted, I think I am going to go with an LS6 intake, underdrive pulley, LS6 oil pump and Edelbrock long tube headers....for now anyway.....cam,heads and tune will have to wait....$$$ is tight
