Eliminate the power steering pump
I want to eliminate my power steering pump. Does anyone make a bracket/pulley set up to go in its place? That way I could keep the same belt set-up and have the pulley free wheel. Or, is their a better set up?

wow you do realize that with no tensioner and little to no contact on the water pump you will be replacing yoru belts when in your car is done?
things to try to keep when modifying your serpentine belt, and front accessories
1. tensioner, keep it at all costs
2. water pump, make sure belt has good wrap at all costs
3. crank pulley. make sure it has good wrap as well.
rubber stretches, so no tensioner means slipping/jumping belt
obviously, the crank turns the system. little contact patch means little traction, which means slipping belt.
the water pump obviously cools your system. little contact patch means little traction, which means slipping belt, which means hot car.
some sort of pulley would be ideal to keep proper belt contact with water pump. id also add the tensioner back on your setup, as well as the black plastic pulley that gives the crank and alternator more belt.

All you need to do is remove the P/S pump and bracket, buy a grroved pulley and replace it with your smooth idler pulley.
Get a shorter belt and your done.
Send me a pm with your email and Ill send thru a pic of my belt setup, cost me $35 Aus in total to convert it, so $25 USD. Thats what the belt was worth.

Will a modern day PS rack survive without a PS pump? I thought about removing the pump and just taking the in and out lines off the PS rack and making it a close loop with a small resovoir. I assume I have to have some type of lubrication.
Anyone have one of these apart? I like to save the weight of the pump, lines, cooler, and the parasitic drag on the serpentine belt.

Buy a non P/S rack.
A P/S rack that isnt hooked up is heavier then a non P/S car to steer.
