Oil Pressure is 60 psi at idle and I puking oil
After working on the vette over the winter, I notice my oil pressure is now way high. All I did is add headers, Lokar dipstick, and relocate the oil pressure sensor about an inch. I noticed after restarting it the pressure is 20psi highier. I assumed the sensor broke from sitting on the shelf during the winter. Now a month later I take a 1400 mile trip during the trip the stock oil sensor on top of the motor is puking oil out of the plug. I plugged it and continued the trip. Last night I got home and the garage floor is loaded with oil. What did I blow out and why.
I'm running 5 - 20 w oil.

Yeah there is a diaphram inside the sensor. It you hit it just the right way you crack the plastic to the metal part and it leaks. Also when the diaphram goes out it has a hole in the electrical connector that leaks.

The Cruise In was a blast. The drive was not as good. 12 hours in a hot vette is not the best thing I can recommend except for weight loss. I did get great MPG. How does Memphis to Dallas on 3/4 of a tank sound.
Now I need to locate something to pull that oil sensor out. I tried a 1 1/8" deep socket, but still to short. Any ideas.

Also id say run a different oil weight. I run amsoil 10w-40 and my car has great oil pressure both at WOT and idle. Although that isnt a solution to your current problem I think it would be better for you car int he long run. JMO though. Good luck and hope you solve the problem. PS car looks great!

I would say after you replace the sending unit....it will read correctly. if the sending unit is puking oil...it means something bad went on there....so its probably sending a wrong signal. So replace it and I am sure it will be back to normal again.
