71 Chevelle hooker header pics
I finally installed my headers. Only had a few problems. The left side hit the brake proportioning valve so I had to relocate it down the frame. The right side hit the bellhousing. Had to grind about a quarter inch by the starter. I made some flanges in the pipes behind the crossmember since the headers are slip fit.

Looks nice. I'm also working on a '71 a little further behind though. I have a set of hookers here waiting to go in. What motor mount adapters are you using?
Which way did you install the headers? Bottum up or top down?

I made a set of S&P mount from quarter inch steel. I had to move the frame mount back some and drill new holes, You can see in the first picture here .The headers come up from the bottom.

Wow, that Chevelle has has a few panels replaced. Very nice job so far.
How much did you have to move the prop valve for the brakes. Did you have to re-fab the brake lines??
Any reason to why you think the hookers hit the bellhousing. I know grinding a nub off isnt a big deal but I would think that if they were designed properly, they wouldnt hit anything thats part of the engine assembly. Im very curious about this as I will be needing these headers.
Can you show a pic of your steering shaft clearance. Thanks

I flipped through you Car Domain page looks like you're using a Caprice tank. Did you have to modify the trunk pan?
Good looking project.

alocker I moved the prop valve down the frame just o were it starts to turn. I made a new line from the left front , lengthened the right line and shortened the line to the rear. The lines to the master cylinder I just stretched.
I don't know why the Headers hit the bellhousing, but it was easier to grind than to get Hooker to fix th problem. Here is a picture of the steering column.
TT402 LS1 I moved the mounts on the frame back 1.5 inches. Here is a better picture
93 Polo 99 camero oil pan. Here is a picture of the clearance to the crossmember and mods to the trunk floor.
Thanks for the interest. Jeff
