What about building a set of solid motor mounts? Seems trivial enough, unless you really want poly/rubber mounts.

How soon do you need 'em? If you're not in a huge hurry, I can handle it in the next couple weeks.

i'd say dump the iron block and do go the aluminum route, but perhaps i'm a little biased. really though, the aluminum block would be a Much better choice for an already light car to kind of balance it out, but if money is a concern, that's completely understandable. i would like to see the car either way when it's up and running! what's your overall plans for the car? feel free to shoot me a pm if you'd prefer not to clog up your thread too btw.

It would probably be cheaper to just motor plate it and be done with it.

Lightbulb How about..............

an adapter plate of sorts? Using 1/4" or 3/8" steel plate depending on preference, install the front 2 bolts through motor mount/adapter plate and thread into block as normal. The rear 2 of the 4 bolt holes on the block would be attached through the adapter plate via counter-sunk bolts. The third motor mount hole then bolts to the extended adapter plate. This idea will raise the engine slightly, but the elongated holes in the 4.6 k-member should allow for that. Anyway, just an idea.

Not exactly. They offer a SBC swap k-member and motor mount kit that will fit an LS1, however the clearance between the oil pan and k-member is 3/8" with spacers that I had to fabricate, and the clearance between the steering rack and oil pan is very similar. Without the spacers it was touching. I did email back and forth with Anthony Jones to try to remedy the problem, and his solution was for me to fabricate spacers The good news is that there was no work needed on the tunnel to fit my T-56. The shifter hole is about 2" back too much for an exact fit, but in my case (no center console needed) it's ok. Not sure what that means for headers, but I'll be trying to fit a pair of the MAC mid-lengths this weekend, when they get here.

that ysucks especially for the $469 price tag it carries. i thought from what i was told from aje it was ls1 specific. ill be waiting for brians solid mounts but will look into the other options

Yeah I was also told that it would work as if it was LS1 specific, but it really isn't. I know that with any conversion there are always issues like this, but I'd think that the manufacturer of a a specific product would actually know how well it does or does not work, and not just blow smoke up your *** to make a sale.

Mr. Hyde, thanks for the heads-up on the AJE k-member. I almost bought it a few weeks ago; glad I didn't! I wonder if their 4.6L k-member would work better?

Mr Hyde I was planning on ordering that k-member as well this coming weekend. Could you potentially fabricate me those spacers? If so PM me. And also do you have to pay extra for the mounts to make an LS1 work? I'm doing a 6.0 as well into an SN 95 but with forged internals and a vic jr. setup. Just gonna go carb to keep it simple.

this is an old post but i think jbk240z hit the nail right on the head with the small adapter plate .... spacing it up slightly might even be good by the sounds of some using the tubular aje k member ? now another question which k member fits the best a 4.6 conversion k member for a fox or a 96-04 tubular k member that was factory equipped with a 4.6?
