Default Another LS14 Project.

Ok so i took some pics of how everything is coming along in my setup. Nothing all that impressive or different, just a stock z28 ls1 into another s14 240sx *yawn*

First up is the donor car. Poor Camaro never got its day.

Here is the car its going into. Please dont make fun of the front end, thats how it came. I have a kouki front end sitting in my room dying to be put on lol.

Of course with this new found horsepower you HAVE to be able to stop so i invested into some huge brakes for a starting point.

Plenty more to come as the days go on. I still need to pick up a GTO oil pan and a t56 along with the clutch system. So all in due time. I cant really complain so far with only about 2800 into the setup including the s14 and Camaro . This swap scares alot of people ill admit mainly due the price. Obviously it can be done cheap which is something im planning on proving. It all comes down to being patient and finding deals etc.

Ha, thanks man. Its hard to find time but im making good progress. I just collect parts and sit them in my room till i cant touch the car. Im a full time student with a job and 3 cars that dont run so its a bit tricky hahahah. if anyone has a t56, clutch, flywheel and starter(not sure if they are different) i got cash in hand...

yea i havent decided on getting z brakes for the back due to wheel fitment issues. suspension and body work have gone on the back burner mainly because im a noob on wheel fitment. im wanting to run something atleast 10" wide with atleast a 275 tire but im having a time getting a correct offset and face type that will clear z brakes. maybe im putting to much thought into it iono.

If you want some inexpensive wheels in really kick *** sizes, this is what i'm going to be putting on my 240 once i get the v8 swapped in.

Clicky POW

I'm getting the "fr5 style" 17x9 in the front and 17x10.5 in the rear. They are a +27 offset for the 10.5's so pretty good for a VERY good price. Thought some of you may be interested in this.

That is actually per set, i was amazed myself when i found out. I dont have any specs on the weight though. I'm not really to concerned about the weight, not that it doesn't matter, i was just happy to find some wheels in nearly the perfect size for such a good price.

lol its all about finding deals my freind. ive learned to be very patient. it took me almost 3 months to find an ls1 and i couldnt justify 3500 on just an auto swap and like 4-4500 on a 6 speed so i did the next best thing.

J/K!!!! That's kewl that you were able to find those great deals. I actually found a T/A for a deal like that (it also had auto tranny) and would have had about the same into it with the 240 I bought as you but I already had my LS1/T56 combo and a friend of mine actually bought the T/A instead and is going to use the LS1 in his '69 Camaro so it's going to go to a good home.

well got some bad news today. drained the oil only to have it leak like a gallon of crystal clear water then immediately turn solid black oil. i cant logically understand how this is possible. the GM coolant is orange so its not a headgasket or cracked block. somehow water has found its way into the motor. maybe it was from the days of Noah rain weve had the last week but i highly highly doubt it.

but no worries as mentioned above i know how to plan well. i have a back up ls1 long block im picking up from a very good freind for 200 bux in case this bottom end is rusted or locked up and turn it into a stroker 402 or something in my spare time. this IMO is a very very minor set back which might cost me two weeks but then again im in no real rush. ill be done pulling the motor hopefully tomorow or the day after. hard to gauge when working outside and its raining everyday all day. once thats out the way ill begin the tear down and running through the wiring and making diagrams for the conversion.
