Will GM A body font disc brakes fit on a Nova?
I know this isnt really a LS1 based question but hopefully someone knows this.
I have 72 Nova and wondering if the disc brakes off the front of a 71 GTO will fit on the front? Are the spindles that much different?
The thing still has drum brakes all around, I figure its time to do something about it.

I found this on a Nova site:
"Most conversions use the more common single piston calipers, which are also significantly less expensive. (the single piston stuff fits everything from 68 through 74 (Nova) or 67 through 72 (Chevelle) but is not technically "correct")
The spindle, backing plates, and calipers are different for each style so your caliper requirement really depends on what spindles and caliper brackets you have used for the conversion."
It might work I would do some more research. I would think Chevelle and GTO would be similar since they are both A-body cars.

The biggest different is that a A-Body is front steer and the Nova is rear steer..
I hear it has been done, but the steering arm have to be swapped.. Most people I talked to say.. just get the correct ones for the Nova..(1st gen Camaro is the same)
I have both in a Nova and Chevelle in 71's

I've done the swap a couple times. Use your steering arm. You can even use your spindles if you trim about a 1/4" off the top caliper bracket hole. I've used a milling machine and last time an electric hacksaw. They have to be off, though.
The rotor, spindle, caliper bracket, and bearings/seals are the same. The Monte Carlo 70-72 are the same also.

the guy that noted the front vs rear steer is correct, you should try a newer caprice type. we just changed mine from a gto set up to a caprice type (better steering geometry), with coil overs all the way around. and yes i did change the upper A-arm. i went to a racing catalog ordered parts and we made our own. find anyone that races on a track or dirt and they can do it for you if you can not.

The Caprice (77+) is a taller Spindle.. I don't know if anyone has done a B-Body spindle conversion on a X-Body.. A-Body yes..
On a A-Body (Chevelle, GTO, Cutless, etc) it can be done, you will need a differenet upper A-Arm. Also note that the B-Body Spindles has a fixed Steering arm. It is also suggested you use the 78+ spindle, due to the bearing size being larger.
I have done this conversion on my 71 chevelle using the Hotchkis Tube A-arm. It is a simple conversion.. but you need to research for the correct Lower Ball join and Rod ends. Hotchkis and Global West both market kits.
