Default RX7 loses it's soul-427 swap begins

Ok, I finally get to actually work on my car this week rather than reading about it on various forums. I took out my 93 FD's soul this week. It really wasn't that hard. It took about 6 man hours of work. Not much damage was done to the car or myself, but how come you always bust the same knuckles over and over again ? The hard part was getting the old engine cradle out, as the bolts were all stuck. I'm trying to get the swap done in a fairly short period of time. The delay right now is getting the heads for my LS motor. I'm getting some LS7 heads milled slightly and the intake ported. The part I'm most unsure about is the wiring, of course. Hopefully all goes well.

The soul leaving the body

Out with the old

The new, waiting to go in when some parts arrive

There's no replacement for displacement

There is already an LS7 RX7. This is an LS7 based shortblock from Scoggins Dickey set up for a wet sump. It does not use LS7 components other than the block.

With that motor all you are going to have is a tire smoking machine. When it finally starts moving foward it should be fun.

I liken those rotaries to communism---good in concept (and I'm being very generous here) but a catastrophe in practice. I couldn't believe how much space they take up under the hood. The LS motor should be a lot more accessible.

I had to check that picture twice to see that they forgot to put the decimal point in. Sweet . As far as what to do with the old motor, there is someone in Holland (must be the village idiot) who put one of those things in a standard size go kart, the kind that most racers start on when they're kids). All you see in the video is him sitting at the starting line and then a cloud of smoke as he gives it some gas. You don't see him again and I wonder if he lived through the experience.

You can find answers to your wiring questions here. There really isn't a lot to it !!! I can attest to the fact that you'll have one helluva drive when your done !!!!
