Default fuel system for lt1 in 86 monte

hey guys. what EXACTLY will i need to do as far as the fuel system goes to convert my carbd fuel system to an efficient system for the lt1. what size line, which pump, should i sump the tank? sorry guys i know nothing about fuel injection but im learning. thanks everybody for the input

If you can find you an 86 up monte with a v6 then you could just get the fi tank and lines out of it and then run a vortec truck pump in the tank and everything would work like the factory built it.

The easiest way i can think of is to take the tank out get a sump for the bottom and have it welded on with a supply and return then you can run an6 line up front and never have to worry about it untill 600hp. Of course thats with a decent inline pump like a Walbro 255 inline

ok so i need walbro 255 inline fuel pump, sump, lines/fittings (what type of fittings do the stock fuel rails accept? how do i convert to 6an?) 6an for the supply, what size for return? same size? what else would i need? i do not need a sending unit with an inline pump correct? fuel filter (where does this go? between tank and pump, between pump and fuel lines?). anything else. sorry for all the questions guys. bear with me. i appreciate it

yes. thanks. but i didnt see a whole lot of specifics. and i want to be sure i get this all right. this is an lt1, not an ls1 if it makes a difference

You should be able to buy an aftermarket replacement tank for under 200. I was able to get one for my El Camino for $90 new, but they have since bumped the price of that tank up to 150. The sending unit was much more difficult to find for me, no one makes an new aftermarket one. I think you can buy the sending units for a MC new from the aftermarket.

what are the dimension of the tank...? I wonder how close it is to the 94-96 Impala tanks ?.. I have one in my 71' Chevelle.. that may be an option.. as also checking for other GM models of simular years or models that have used EFI and has EFI pump and baffles... Buick, Pontiac, etc...

According to GMParts direct the PN for a 85-86 MC is 25004938, it is also used in 86 Bonnevilles and Grand Prix`s. Its also available through rockauto.

I don`t think a 94-96 IMP tank will fit, the MC tank is set to one side, not centered.

Depending on where you are located you should be able to find a sending unit in the junkyard, I know when I was looking for a sending unit for my El Camino I found monte ones everywhere.
