I actually bolted it to the top of the cowl. If I remember correctly I used the front vint. air bracket ( the one closer to the firewall ) and attatched 1/4 "bolts to it so I could just attatch the nuts from the top of the cowl . on the other side I used some thin metal strapping from the unit to the cowl.I sealed them in the cowl to prevent water from dripping in.NICE install , I'll look for you on the power tour, JOHN

John the car looks great, read your thread a few times now! I'm doing a 66 GTO with a LY6 4l80e swap.

Question about your gas tank and tanks inc setup. Did you use the stock tank, new stock tank, or spectra efi tank and swap out the pump? Not sure which route you went and this is my next hurdle to cross in getting information.

Thanks BJ

I used a new tank for a 67 chevelle, I had to flatten it out to accomadate the tanks inc setup, about 8000 miles so far with no issues . JOHN

Default nice pics,need advice

Im dropping an 99vette ls1 into a 67 lemans frame. Ordered an adapter plate and mount from hedmans. the plate and mount work on ls1 block, but the mount doesnt line up with the frames triangular, 3 bolt mount. The frame mount is too wide for the adapter mount. How did you set up your mounts? Is my understanding that the chevelle frame is same as gto/lemans, thx

Hey John, About to start my LS3 TT in my 67' El - Camino project any updates? Would love to talk to you about some things. My email is Tony@vargasturbo.com or just throw me a PM. How much HP are you shooting for. Sorry if this was covered. The thread is 14 pages and I skimmed the best I could. I have most things worked about my fuel tank / Fuel system are still up in the air. Thanks in advance.

Now that sandy has claimed all of my hard work on the car I hope to be totally disasembling it over the winter and starting over again.thinking of upping the horsepower a bit and using a 6l80e trans , I was pretty happy with the way the car came out but will be making some slight improvements . all ideas are welcome . yes, update. took car on 2013 HRPT to Texas and back. had issues with trans only due to a poorly located trans cooler . I installed a cooler with its own fan under car , didnt work out to well and installed one where it should have been in the first place(at hotel in Texas ), in front of the rad .Anyway trans performed well after that but I didnt beat on it too much as I was burning oil and engine wasnt running too well on trip back ,also I need to change my 3.73 to a 3.08 or a 2.90 . so I am happy but I need to do some tweaking with the car to get it where I want.JOHN

Thanks for the update. Did you install a G8 shallow tranny pan? What about paddle shifters? Thanks for the info.

not up to pics right now( need camera ) but I can get a measurement tomorrow. I know my oil pan is even with the front crossmember .If i remember correctly the trans pan is 1 1/2 - 2 inches below frame leaving approx 4 " clearence .I remember cranking up the front coilovers for more ground clearence .I am pretty sure there is a difference between the 6l80 and the 6l90 pan - by the back corner I think JOHN
