here is what it had ----- 305 with summit camshaft and while installing it in the truck the engine crane failed and the front pulley hit the ground
needless to say i wanted to go larger cubic inches and get away from the 305 paperwieghts so i just spent 900 bucks and pulled a 5.3 with 5000 miles on it instead of building a 350 i thought this would be a bit cooler.

Ahh... reminds me of when my C10 first went into heart surgery. LOL Now, if only I could stop breaking transmissions. Guess I need to call Vince and order my FLT L4.
Not exactly what everything looks like now, but this was when I first did the conversion.

Here is a list of special parts so far that i used, that directly relate to just the conversion.
all summit numbers
HUP-HP3795 ---- Hughes flexplate adapter from ls1 >> oldshool trans/converter(cheaper then the 6.0 spacer and longer bolts)
TRD-4592 ---- Engine mount Adapters ----- only used the 'plate' and the hardware
ATM-2268 ---- oil pressure adapter ----- metric to npt adapter for the auatometer sender
ATM-2277 ---- water temp adapter ---- it is metric to npt adpater for the passenger side head plug
trans issue --the stock crossmember for a TH350 in that truck is a bit off, the engine was moved forward about 1-1.5 inches, and the trans need to get raised about 3/4 inch for the correct angle. so i am just going to get a peice of 3/4 plate and drill the correct holes for the trans mount and crossmember. should work fine.
i might see if a 4 speed longbed truck driveshaft will work but i probably just get one made.
off topic --
ill tell you what .... just helped a friend of mine install a tr224 114 in his 01 ta, That was a pain in the a$$. new oil pump, timing chain, and all new valvetrain. this was the first cam swap i ever did in a car, let alone ls1, it took us two 10 hours from start to finish. but so worth it!
i dont think i am going to mess with sbc for a while depending on how this thing runs, might just convert everthing i own to genIII

i am in the process if installing a 2000 ls1 into my 79 swb, as far as the tranny goes, i am going to stick with my th350.
from what i have gathered so far, i can make it work by using a manual valve body and having the tranny delted out of the ecm.
now, can i still use my th350 converter? will the th350 bolt right up to the ls1? will the hughes flexplate adapter listed above keep me from needing a new converter and flywheel?
thanks for the help.

it will bolt right up just using 5 bolts on the trans and the converter i have had for a while is just for th350 not an ls1 conversion .... but you will need this ---HUP-HP3795 --- it goes on the flexplate
i have the curved style flexplate and there are holes that actually line up to the converter holes. if you dont have the curved flexplate just buy a 5.3 flexplate.
