Default 1965 chevelle wagon ls1 conversion

Started the ls1 conversion in the bosses 65 wagon this week we only got to work on it for two days but are excited about the progress.
Problems so far:
Oil pan (custom canton) does not clear Chassis
Column shifter linkage may be tricky
headers for the application are taping the floor board.
here are some progress pics!

It needs some paint work and a few things still, it's a fun project.

Keep up with the pics, It looks like it will be a nice install when it is done. Interested in how you wook up the heater hoses. I don't know if the top or the bottm of the heater core is the input. When it is all done, you should post the fuel economy numbers as well. What trans did he decide to use? For the pan, Street and Performance does offer one that clears the linkage. On the linkage, it looks like Lokar will be your friend, they make or can make a way to shift anything. What headers are you using?

[B][I] Nice car. I have a 65 SS Convertible Chevelle and am thinking about doing a conversion. What kind of motor mounts are you using and what have you done to the crossmember?

The bottom hose on the heater core should be the input, that way if there is air it will naturally rise to the top and out of the heater core.

THanks G-Body, I was concerned that GM changed the connector sizes over the last 40 years and I was going to connect it backwards!

I would love to see this wagon in person. The Mrs. doesn't like wagons, but there are a few pretty cool ones out there, and I always enjoy seeing them....

Did you have the oil pan custom built, or did you by their swap pan? I had them build me a custom pan that holds 6.5 qts.(not the swap pan on their web site). The one on their web site was my first design that didnt hold enough oil and the front corners of the sump touched the engine crossmember.
I also noticed you are from Davenport, Ia. I live just on the other side of Dubuque, Ia in WI.
Love the project! Keep us informed.

Hopefully within the next few years, I will get my hands on a '64 Chevelle and I plan to do a LS1 (fuel injected) / T56 transplnt into it.

Sweet ride!
