It will probably fit in a car designed for an in-line six but not an F-body. Its probably light enough but boy are the parts expensive for that motor.

if I had a viper, I'd drop an lsx in it. I just can't justify running a gas guzzling engine when the same power can be obtained from a fuel efficent lsx. Drop a built lsx motor in your formula and i think you would be much happier than having an 8 liter moneypit.

I see what youre saying but just image the jaws dropping at a show when they see a V10 under the hood of a f-body...the LSx is a really sweet engine but it doesnt carry that same "supercar" mystique like a Viper engine carries.
Plus when you look into building a project like that Im sure money isnt a huge factor and gas mileage would be the last thing someone would be worried about.

I dunno. Like 6Techniques said, it doesn't carry that supercar mystique. I suppose to each his own, but for me the Viper just has an air about it that would kinda be ruined with an LSX. For practical purposes, sure. The LSX is a much more practical engine than the 8 liter v10 Viper, but it's not like the Viper's a practical car anyway. From my point of view, stick with the Viper engine and if you're dying for an LSX, buy a C6 Zo6 and mod the hell out of it.

Really? Tell that same line to the band of C6 Z06 that have been embarassing $100k+ "supercars" for the past year with it's non showstopping LSX.

^^^ You mean LS7 and I agree I think having a Viper is more of a status symbol, just like the Ferrari, Lamborghini, need I continue? And +1 on the C6 Zo6 handing some "status" symbol's their ***

well embarrassing...maybe, maybe not...Lets be real for a second, when it comes down to the ENGINE alone, a Vette shares the same base platform as the Camaro, TA, GTO, and misc trucks within the GM lineup. Where as the Viper ENGINE is shared between it and the SRT truck. Any other v10 doesnt share the same interchange-ability the GM engines does with its LSx. Which in fact doesnt have the same mystique as the Viper v10 does due to that simple reason...When people see my car, one of the first things to come out of their little "non-gearheaded" brain is "Hey, that thing has a Vette engine in it, doesnt it?" Hell, to most common people, anything bigger than a v8 is almost god-like, so dont take my comment as me dissing the LSx as I think it is the greatest platform GM has ever produced. But being a fan of ALL American made sports cars, I must say that the Viper (along with its engine) is in the $$$ category, thus adding to its mystique to the common person.

FWIW.....awhile back there was an ultimate streetcar challenge and a guy brought a viper.it had forged internals and was stroked a bit.they threw on a vortech and it made over 1000rwhp without sweating.

I would rather see a boosted viper V-10 in a Ford GT(with a new interior of course....yuk).
Now that to me would be the ****.
I have drivin a 2004 srt-10, a modded 1996 gts, and a 1993 supercharged rt-10 viper(exhaust/throttle bodies/nitrous/lex windows/carbon fiber dash).
Vipers drive like **** and look like they were built in someones garage.
But the '93 is the fastest car I have ever been in.

There is no replacement for displacement. That Viper v10 could make power levels you can't comprehend on pump gas.
