Your right....it will not necessarily catch fire....but because that steel is not strong enough to protect the regulator and the rinky-dink fuel lines, it IS more than capable of cutting the lines. There is plenty of material besides just the fuel that would burn in the event of a fire. But since gasoline is so easily combustable, and burns hot enought to cause the inner/outter fenders to burn .......even burn through the other hoses to things in that vicinity that burn even hotter (powersteering fluid) it becomes a legitimate concern.

It's fine with me that you're ok with that....but I though I would point it out incase you did not know. Other than that the only reason that I put the first paragraph there was for everyone else that did not recognize the risk who may be using this thread as a basis for thier build.

Just looking out.

Heater core lines:

I just used the v6 lines and trimmed them on the water pump side (too long otherwise) and used a couple of hose clamps to secure them to the water pump. I left everything else the same.... I really cant see a reason to change anything else.

Which mounts are you referring to?

Wow Haven't seen this thread in awhile the the motor mounts he was using are early 350 to lsx conversion mounts to use them on an lt1 you have to fabricate a little. It is actually easier to just get the center section of an ls1 k-memebr and the mounts usually both can be had for 100 or less.

i am wanting to go with a carburator on my lt1 to lq4/l92 swap. how much simpler (if at all) will this make my swap if i use the timing control module with the manifold? not to mention, wouldn't this make the fuel system alot simpler as well? i am thinking a1000 pump in the tank and bypass regulator. i'll have to figure out mating my lt1 t56 to it later.

Im not familiar with the carburator setup for an lsx motor...Mechanically speaking the swap is a breeze.... you'd have to change the bell housing on the tranny, and if im not mistaken the input shaft is different (one is longer than the other i believe).

I would think it would simplify things to an extent....you would still have to wire the guages....ac compressor request, starter....you still wouldn't be out of the woods

Back from the dead here. I need some help figuring out what you did with the engine mounts. I want to stick with the stock lt1 k member with the lsx engine. I also have a a4. I bought some ls1 engine mounts and pedistals off ebay. What mods will I have to do to bolt the lsx to the lt1 k member. Thanks for the help!!!

I believe you use the LT1 K and motor mounts and get plates to attach to the LSx block and the LT1 mounts. 1/8" plates would work just fine. they are on ebay and other places.

Are there any benefits of keeping the stock lt1 k-member when the ls1 k-members are out there so cheap?

I am in the middle of my swap right now.

I see no benefits, I already had my LS1 k-member before finding the plates to make the LT1 work. Been nice to have the LT1 stuff not taken apart that way the alignment was the way I wanted it....so now next week it goes in for the alignment and a few months later it will go again once I get the tubular stuff installed

I would suggest just using a ls1 kmember I had lots of trouble trying to make the lt1 one work correctly.

Well a few posts up it says that if I were to use the ls1 k on a 4L60E i would have to do the tranny support. Im wondering if it would be possible to bolt the ls1 engine side mount to the lt1 k member side. No needing a adapter? Im just gathering parts for the swap right now. I bought a complete set of stock ls1 mounts off ebay

You will need adapters to use an LT1 K with any transmission. As far as the transmission cross member, the T56 cross will work with either the LT1 or the LS1 transmissoin. If you use an auto you will have to do a little "fudging" to get it to work.

Hi Guys ... Just found this thread ...

Question ...

If I used an LS1 tub. K-member and dropped in a 427 LSX, could I still use my stock trans mount along with my LT1 style T56 and Street Twin Clutch ... or does the trans/clutch need to be swapped also?
