The Tubular K-Member will work fine. The T56 Cross Member and the Mount can be used. To be honest with ya.. the easiest way to swap to LSX is to use LSX stuff. I'm in the process of swapping this setup over to a T56 at the current moment..eveything is going smooth.

For the T56 you can get a LS1 T56 Front Cover and Imput Shaft.. that will work the best.

Look for someone that has a LS1 T56 and wants to put it behind a Gen I Engine and see if they want to trade the Front Cover and the Imput Shaft for yours..

You will need a LS1 Bell Housing as well..

Can't believe this thread is still going. The swap isn't bad at all. Just get your ducks in a row PRIOR to starting the swap.

I just changed the motor in my TA again.

I have plenty of friends that do it too with some big cars.. they don't give me **** about it cause they know that I don't. We had that conversation a long time ago between me and him and he was claiming his power with N20 and I was claiming mine without it, kinda like apples vs. oranges IMO..

Nice, Andrews AFB here. Currently deployed to the IZ right now. You must deploy quite a bit to afford those nice toys.....lol

Not really, just a single E5 at the time. I'm currently deployed now, but I've got other things to do now with the money, family comes first.

Just read your thread merv, considering how many so called "mechanics" I've worked with here in Iraq that wouldn't have the first clue about modifying the harness, you'd definitely put most of them to shame lol.

Default doing the a similar swap in a 93'

I have followed this thread for a while and I am very impressed! I have a 93 TA that i have owned for about 18 months and has sat in my garage. I am about to buy a k-member and steering knuckle/linkage from an ls1 f-body. I was planning on useing the lq-4 and speartech computer that I bought from another member of this site. My question is can i use the stock trans from the 93 car? This is my first serious motor swap and I thought that my trans from the 93 was identical to a 700r-4. Upon further reading I have found that it may not be. I have confused myself and would like to clear this up. Will I be able to run the stock trans or will I have to do a th-400/350 swap to avoid further changing my pcm? I will not take offense to any newb comments at my expense as I feel that I am not eduated and they would help me finish my swap in the fastest manner possible. Any help is appreciated

You can use your Stock Trans, but you are going to need a Crank Spacer for it. You would have to do the same for the TH350 or TH400 aswell.

K so all I will need is the spacer and converter for my app. I am going to a local tranny shop for this as I fell this is the best option. Thank you for the advice!

The stock 6.0s had a crank space when used with the 4l80e. Does your lq4 still have the flexplate and spacer? I'm not sure, but the bolt holes for the torque converter on the 4l60 maybe be slightly off if using a 6.0 flex plate. you can get a different flex plate of just oblong the holes a little.

I was looking into replacing the 4l60e with a 4l80e in my 5.3l silverado. I would need a crank spacer and the torque converter holes would be slightly off. So I'm guessing they would be off in the opposite direction if using a 6.0 and 4l80e flex plate and a 4l60 transmission.

Some of the 4.8l's had the longer Crank Flange from what I have read too, they had a 4L60E, more than likely the older style. I wonder if that Flex Plate would work.
