Look at the GTO pan on the 1st page. It is a front sump.

Thanks for the reply, but I can't use a front sump. I would have worse clearance issues with the 3rd member housing. I just need a shorter rear sump, but wondering what parts would I need to change out besides the pan? Pan, dip stick & tub, oil pump pick up? And what pan to use?

The F-body pan is the shortest as far as I know. Looking at page one, what pan comes closest?

Looks like the F-Body & CTSv are the same sump height, but not all P/N's are listed for the CTSv. Also which is cheaper? My pan doesn't have that tube port above the oil filter and the other two pans do. Not sure what this is for, but can I use the one off my pan in place of that part on the other pan?

You will also need the windage tray. I will bet that the F-body pan is cheaper.

The caddy pan is about 1.25" deeper.

Look at post 56
https://ls1tech.com/forums/showpost....3&postcount=56

Looks like the absolute shortest pan (without the wings on it) is the LS2 vette pan. The f-body pan dips down a little at the drain plug.

Just ordered all the parts for an F-body. Should be enough clearance for this particular application.

Thanks for all the help and for this great site! I've booked marked it and will most likely being returning quite often.

Thanks for all the information guys. I am installing 5.3/4L60E in my 69 Suburban and this thread definitely helped. I initially tried the Fbody pan but it was just a little to long back to front. So I switched to the Caddy pan and it fit perfect! Here's a link to my suburban build.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=200387

The pan pictures are towards the end. I've got a new Fbody pan, windage tray and oil pickup that I don't need, I'll ship it for $250.

P.S. I'm going to be running a Magnuson Super Charger on this truck too, .

Does anyone know the part number for the dipstick for an LSX block? I've read on here that it's not the same as the LS1 dipstick?

Does anyone know what would be a better fit oil pan on an LSx swap into an SN95 Mustang with a tubular K-member? I might be using a 4.6 QA1 or GMS K-member, with the modified 4.6 motor mounts...

Corvette LS2?
Caddy CTS-V?
F-body?

How important is the rear wall on the underside of the GTO pan? If I get shorter bolts, can I shorten or eliminate the wall?

Default Some info for the first page

The posted info needed to confirm the dipstick and tube part numbers on the Hummer (LH8) oil pan - the dipstick tube part number posted is incorrect

The dipstick tube part number is 12584738 (verified by my local Chevy dealer), and includes the O-ring seal.

Dipstick number 12603506 is good.

Pickup tube O-ring is included with the pickup (to answer the question there)

This is at the very top of my post:

GM routinely changes part numbers. Please verify number for application
with your Parts Counter person before ordering.

CTS-V Pan:

Dipstick tube: 12584738
Dipstick: 12584737

For the o-ring, I used a truck one and it worked 100% fine.

Does anyone know if a G8/VE Commodore pan will fit a third-gen F-bod?

This might help answer your question:

The VE pan is a little deeper than the F Body, and the sump area extends 3" further forward...

Judging by the picture posted in the last post, I seriously doubt that the VE pan will work in a 3rd gen f-body.

Yep, that helps, it won't fit since the F-body sump only just clears, oh well....
