module on negative cable
on a 2006 Tahoe engine harness there is some sort of module on the negative battery cable near the battery, is this some sort of sensing module for the ECM to control charging?

never mind
I found out what it does
Generator Battery Control Module
The generator battery control module is a class 2 device. It communicates with the powertrain control module (PCM), instrument panel cluster and the body control module for electrical power management (EPM) operation. It is a serviceable component that is connected to the negative battery cable at the battery. It directly controls the generator field control circuit, charge indicator control, input to the generator. It continuously monitors the generator field duty cycle signal circuit and the battery voltage. If the generator battery control module loses communication with the PCM, the default voltage will be set to 13.8 volts and the module will set U1016. If the generator battery control module loses communication with the body control module (BCM), the module will set U1064.

Has anyone figured out how to bypass that module?? Im running a 03 suburban motor in my 65 chevy truck and not using the stock computer. My alt only puts out 13.8v and would like the additional 1v.. but it is a 160amp alt so would like to keep it.

Did you wind up using the module? I just ordered a negative cable with the module attached for my 06 5.3 harness. The problem I'm having, is that of the eight cables, there's two cables on the plug that hook to the module, which come from the fusebox C2 connector(big rectangle with a bunch of pinks). I have no idea where to place these two: Blue--Engine on signal; Orange/blk--UART serial ckt1061.
Did you eliminate yours? If so how?

I'm thinking about keeping the battery module on the Neg Batt cable. Has anyone kept it? I can't figure out the orange/blk serial data wire from the module. It shows going to the DLC, but that doesn't make sense to me. Which pin?

I've got the module that's on the negative cable (doesn't use the BCM). I like the idea of the module controlling the voltage at different stages, which is why I wanted to retain it....but it seems like it might be a pain.
