Wait until the shop checks it out before you order pistons. 4.005 is done with hone only. If the crank journals and rods look good, you might consider getting a set of rod & main bearings, checking the clearances and putting it back together with all the stock stuff. That will save you a whole bunch of money in machining and component costs, but you really need to check things out thoroughly. It would suck to put this together and get bad oil pressure right off the bat.
If it were me especially with the turbo I would build it with forged stuff, but you can put those decisions off until you see what's rattling around in there.

light scoring on a couple of the bores. probably only needs a decent hone at the worst (since you'll have it out for the bearings anyway).
man, I don't know how you or clint do it. I'd go f'ing insane with the 'one step forward, two steps back' you two have been experiencing.
another thumbs-up here on the wheels. i've been trying to find something similar yet different so i won't be accused of copying you. any idea on the weights?

I just found this build today as I am new to this forum. This is a great build, love the car, love the engine, and the whole bit. I hope your rebuild goes well. I would think the LQ4 block to hold up under boost better than the LS2 alum. block, am I right?

I think that we try to fool ourselves into thinking the long hours working on these old cars and the tons of money spent on them will be worth it in the end but the reality is "they are never done". It is a disease that will consume every part of you. If you don't believe me ask my wife. 18 years and counting owning my car and it wil never be done. Do I really think its worth it, hell yeah! The smile on your face will say it all!

Parts! Everything except pistons which were drop shipped from Wiseco so still waiting on those, and a couple little gaskets that I'll pick up from a local dealership.
I've attached my Excel master spreadsheet of all the research I've done for pricing on stock-displacement forged rotating assembly, in case anyone is interested.
I really lucked out and Summit had a limited sale on ARP head studs for $259 (down from $309) which is the cheapest I've found them, but appears the sale only lasted a couple days.. guess that was good timing!
Another helpful tip, for almost any GM replacement part, and a limited amount of aftermarket LS stuff, www.PacePerformance.com has the lowest GM parts by far, it's actually pretty crazy.. the cost of all the miscellaneous little plugs and sensors and gaskets can really add up.. so buy from Pace!

Also, GMPARTSDIRECT.com has CHEAP parts too....LS9 head gaskets for less then $40 a piece!!!
You can order a brand new LS6 cam for $180!!!
And, LS7 lifters are cheap there too!
Just a note, you can get the ARP head studs from $200-$250...
I am putting another boost motor together right now and bought all of my parts at the locations listed above...
