Yea and if you get the whole model then it also has a 4l80...
FYI, they switched to the 4L65e I believe. Something about not being able to get customer cars back in the door for trans failures... kidding, if I remember correctly, it was the sluggish 1st gear (2.07) in the 80e. Local Motors is pretty sick - I'd recommend going if you're even in Phoenix. They host an open house the first Tuesday of the month, and sometimes let you ride in one of the Rally Fighters - they've even got a small track alongside their building. I got a chance to ride along, and man those things are (relatively) comfortable, even taking hefty jumps and washboards.

HAHA.. "america's tuke".. Toque? Don't you call them a "beanie" down there?
Urban dictionary fail... And yes, we are a completely normal society and so do not have odd words or phrases such as toque.

Hey, did you ever install the rear interior panels after the seat belt install? I'm hoping to be done with that this weekend (I finally got the anchor plates done, plus I welded up 20(!) holes in the floor pan I had drilled over the years and rust-proofed, and am putting fatmat down - though leaving room around the shifter for a future project or two)

Haha.. jokes jokes!

On a serious note, this engine model is AWESOME. Now I'm wishing I had it back when I made the turbo setup so I could have every bend and length in the computer!

I downloaded the "Complete IGS" @ 179mb, but it was lacking the engine and I imagine a shitload of other stuff. Do you have Solidworks? The SW files would be much more complete (apparently so, since 68wagon's Solidworks Complete model had the LS3) but also obviously much large filesize, since it's a native Solidworks file type and not a compressed universal filetype. Give 68wagon a PM to see if his Dropbox is still working/available for downloading the LS3 IGES file he exported & uploaded for me (thanks again man!!).

Nevermind I have it working now. Pretty cool "simple" model. Looks like it's an LS7. I wonder how accurate it is. I'm guessing it came from SEMA? I would really like to get my hands on an L99 version with the FEAD. Would be very helpful in making custom parts.

no problem man... the only reason i found it was there is a guy in town that bought a rally fighter and i was browsing the website...

From what i can tell it's pretty dead on... i checked some dims of the front accessory bolt holes with my motor and they were dead nuts...

I've got a 3d printer/rapid prototype machine and i thought about printing out a scale model for my desk at work... haha...

Funny I thought the same thing. I have a bunch of Nova models that look identical to my car - it would be sweet to scale that thing down, rapid prototype it, and drop it into one of those.

frojoe Can you resize the CADPorn above? It's jacking up my screen.

Haha Clint shouldn't you finish your real-life LS swap before you think about LS swapping your models? ;-P

And sure I can resize the pics above.

Kickass. You're gonna give ResurreXion a run for it's money.

Haha that would be cool. But that is a well-sorted car. And mine is a street car. And that one was built by professionals in a shop, mine in a barely-one-car garage. Would be a neat comparison though

Huge respect for both cars, but I hold a bit more for yours because it's garage built.

Was bored today so figured I should pay some attention to my car for the first time in over a month.

Couple weeks ago I got in some A-body steering arms to raise the tie rod mounting point, so that I could have more clearance to the rim inner lip, as well as raise it enough so that I could custom-lower it with wiggle room both up and down, not just down, for experimental bump-steering improvement.

Current clearance of tie rod end to inner rim lip of 18" rim with 4.875" backspace. After looking at it a bit, it appears the tie rod might clear the inner diameter of the rim, but just barely... too close for my comfort plus I want to raise everything to improve bumpsteer.

Tons of drop in the stock steering arms..

A-body arms raise the tie rod about 3" and look to be a bit shorter too, to quicken the steering. Won't know by how much until I take the stock arms off and compare side-to-side..

If I choose to leave the stud uncut, it looks to be the same overall length as the stock arm w/ tie rod. I'll design the new tie rod points to be higher up so likely will cut 0.5-1" off the stud to give plenty of rim clearance for the 6" backspace I want to run.

I also won't know if the A-body steering arm will clear the Wilwood caliper until I mount it up. If I can get away with mounting the arm with less than 1/4" of spacers between it and the spindle in order to clear the caliper, then cool. If not, I'll consider heating/bending the steering arms. Will cross that bridge when I get there.

Generic assembly of components that will be cobbled together..

That would be amazing. Guys around here have rapid prototypes of gear shafts, impellers, and t-wheels, but that stuff's all pretty boring. A minuscule LS engine would pwn all the gas turbine stuff.

Joe, you never answered my question. Did you put your rear seat/interior panels/armrest/window handles in? I'm wondering how well the belts will retract with the arm rests in the way (haven't gotten my drop brackets back from powdercoat).

Oh snap, sorry! Never saw your question! My car has standard panels (which I threw in the trash anyways), not the custom or SS ones, so I have no arm rests for the rear quarter interior panels. But looking at your pic, my belts will slip thru the panel right about where the ashtray is on your armrests (both height-wise and front-to-back).

On a side note, I got distracted yesterday with yet another pet project.. making a 5spd bar stool. Pics to come.

Great thread. Beautiful car. Awesome swap. Your thread is going to be very helpful for me in the future. I am swapping an LQ9/T56 into a 74 Nova. I will try to not pester you with too many questions in the future! Good job man.
